Heya. Gorgeous snake. Is that an albino king snake?
.: Laura :.
08-02-11, 05:12 PM
Nope, she is an albino checkered garter snake :) (that is by no means camera shy)
stephanbakir
08-02-11, 05:14 PM
I love checkered garters, wish I could find a non albino one :(
.: Laura :.
08-02-11, 05:16 PM
I know what you mean, but still... I'm a sucker for a pink eye :P

Hot :P Hard to not like any checkered garter though, or garter for that matter.

This is true, never a dull moment with my little one. She's always out and about :)

Ah. Looks like this Albino Cali King Snake that my ex has.
Is she a friendly little girl? (:
.: Laura :.
08-02-11, 05:33 PM
Very much so, with everyone other than the bf :P He is the chew toy of the family. Think she has only ever bitten me once or twice through mistaken identity of a finger :)

Awesome. :P
I want another python but can't buy 'em anywhere in NY...They're actually illegal here.
I think that law is really stupid though.
.: Laura :.
08-02-11, 05:58 PM
Really  Why on earth is that??

No clue. There's a TON of snakes that are illegal here. All boas and pythons, coral snakes, all front-fanged venomous snakes, even if devenomized, cobras, vipers, kraits, mambas, etc.
Here's an excerpt from a prohibited animals list for New York.
(10) Reptiles (Reptilia). All Helodermatidae (gila monster and Mexican beaded lizard); all front-fanged venomous snakes, even if devenomized, including, but not limited to, all Viperidae (viper, pit viper), all Elapidae (cobra, mamba, krait, coral snake), all Atractaspididae (African burrowing asp), all Hydrophiidae (sea snake), all Laticaudidae (sea krait); all venomous, mid-or rear-fanged, Duvernoy-glanded members of the family Colubridae, even if devenomized; any member, or hybrid offspring of the family Boidae, including, but not limited to, the common or green anaconda and yellow anaconda; any member of the family Pythonidae, including but not limited to the African rock python, Indian or Burmese python, Amethystine or scrub python; any member of the family Varanidae, including the white throated monitor, Bosc's or African savannah monitor, Komodo monitor or dragon, Nile monitor, crocodile monitor, water monitor, Bornean earless monitor; any member of the family Iguanidae, including the green or common iguana; any member of the family teiidae, including, but not limited to the golden, common, or black and white tegu; all members of the family Chelydridae, including snapping turtle and alligator snapping turtle; and all members of the order Crocodylia, including, but not limited to alligator, caiman and crocodile.

Wow, epic suck.
.: Laura :.
08-02-11, 06:14 PM
Some of that is completely nonsensical :/ shame about the Tegus too
Onyx Cross
08-02-11, 06:18 PM
Yeah it's beyond ridiculous. As long as you're not all over in public with them, you can keep them, though...Although, if a health inspector comes over due to a complaint or whatnot, they'll confiscate it. ):
Though I'd hide my baby in my pants if I had to, haha. :P

Wait, little random but... You named your cat retardo?
Yes, LOL. It just looked liked a Retardo to me. ;p
It's one of my favorite out of the litter though haha.

Loooool awww poor cat

08-02-11, 06:30 PM
Damn, I named my cat "monkeyfeet" It had 4 front feet, and that was a harsh name. It would get its claws stuck in the carpet and flip over when running.
Couldn't name a pet retardo :P
Onyx Cross
08-02-11, 06:41 PM
Hahahaha. I'm thinking about renaming Retardo to "Gilgamesh" at least it'd be pure epicness then. 8)

That must be a city law, There are monitors, boas and pythons being sold in pet stores all around me.

Yeah I should have clarified, it's New York City law. New York State has no restrictions, from my knowledge.

Come on down to Texas....I swear just about anything goes, lol!! I saw a woman walking her raccoon on a leash one day!! Honestly, you have to have permits to have certain animals, but I've seen it all down here.

I really want a sugar glider, those little creatures are adorable! The like riding around in pouches so they'll quite happily sit in your pocket :D
Apparently they form a strong bond with humans so you have to play with them and give them affection several times a day or they get depressed and die :(

I have always wanted one of those!! A few things have kept me from getting one though.. as you stated they need a LOT of love and time. :( wish they where a little more low maintenance....
.: Laura :.
08-05-11, 05:12 PM
Yes it is a great shame :( I'd love to have one but both my bf and I work full time and I'd feel so guilty for not being with it all the time
Onyx Cross
08-05-11, 05:28 PM
Awh cuteness! I wish I could get one of those. Unfortunately, I have too many pets at the moment and not a sufficient amount of money to care for the ones that I do have already. :(

i have thought about getting a sugar glider in that past also, but i don't know if i could handle their "chirping" all night lol.

The nocturnalness isn't a problem at all as I've suffered with insomnia for years, I also quite like their little noises :P
