Hi there
we had a u.sikorae which hatched in the cage, followed by another 4 fertile looking eggs. However the hatchling sadly died after about 4 months although it seemed to eating and drinking well. I suspect winter temps may have dropped too low, I have always made sure in summer they dont get too warm, but wasn't too concerned about the lows :( Now the female seems to have returned to laying infertile eggs....is there anything which triggers this, and anything I can do to encourage fertile eggs?

Is she healthy? Normally its underweight, skinny females who lay infertile clutches. Is the male fertile?

The female looks in very good condition. The male must be fertile, as we only have the one pair, and he is thus the sire of the hatchling we had. He tends to look a bit thinner than her, but also seems to be in quite good condition. My only concern is whether she receives enough calcium. The fertile eggs came shortly after we managed to get her to take a couple of f/t pinkies, which she only will do intermittently. Between times, when we spray daily we finish with a squirt of calcium which she then licks. We do not calcium dust the food itself (roaches for the most, which are fed fresh veg + kitten food) as it is a huge cage (2m x 2m) with natural vegetation so it usually brushes or washes off before they get consumed, so I wonder if there is a better way to supplement, or to get her to take pinkies?
