Hiya folks :) I said some time ago I'd be back with some Jungle Jaguar pictures once my eggs hatch and here I am. Unfortunatly things have gotten pretty weird for me over the last six months or so or I may have been back a little sooner. Both my parents died recently, my father in an accident and then my mother from a lifetime of smoking a matter of weeks later. They were only in thier fifties. What with my getting my jewellery workshop together and up and running and that awful business I've been super busy and super distracted. Clearing out your dead parents house days after they died isn't the nicest of experiences and that's what I've been helping with in the last few days. So...... The one little ray of sunshine in amoungst all that is the clutch of Jungle Jaguar/ Coastal eggs I've been waiting on. Twenty three laid with three or four dodgy looking ones immediatly. The rest looked ok. The first one hatched yesterday and I found it dead next to it's egg :( These things happen however and I kept my fingers crossed for the rest, or best part of them anyway. I'm happy to get ANYTHING as usual but of course we all hope for decent hatch rates. I've got four hatched and looking ok so far, they've been poking thier heads out (one has left the egg also) for a whole day without issue. If I'm lucky and I very much hope I am, I'll get ten or more babies. They are beautiful!! I'm glad I have something nice like this happening at the moment. It feels like it's balancing things out just a bit......

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a parent is a horrible thing to go through, I know, but I am glad that you have some light at the end of the tunnel in the form of baby snakes. I call that great timing. Crossing my fingers that the majority will turn out great. :)

Sorry for your loss, if they haven't piped yet I'd cut the remaining eggs, don't pull them out but cut the eggs. There is a chance they were born without an egg tooth.

Sorry to hear about your Father and Mother

Carpets are truly the ugliest Neonates around, yet they grow into the most beautiful colours.

Cheers guys. Very weird time at the moment, maybe once the whole clearing of the house thing is over we can file all these very strange memories away in the right places in our minds and plod on with our lives. Thanks very much for your thoughts :)

Well yeah they aren't a patch on what they will be but wow you should see what has hatched now!! I'll take some more pictures when I'm working up in the snake room later. I have seven babies hatched and away from the eggs now. All deliciously varied! One has proper jaguar spots, another as keyhole shapes all over him and another is mostly yellow with fairy thin black features :) I'll get them into thier own housing tonight I think, or maybe tommorrow... I suppose the movement of the neonates might well stimulate unhatched eggs to come out. I'm toying with the idea of pipping everything that hasn't hatched now. I always go through this lol Worry worry worry. Then elation :)

Cheers Freedude :) Well I had planned to have them all in thier own little quarters by now but after a few hours in the snake room I'm all hot and bothered now! I've got thier little houses all sorted out and they'll be going in later on today :) I have a few unhatched eggs left which don't look promising. I'll certainly learn from it though as usual. From now on I think I'll be pipping all eggs as soon as the first two or so hatch. I actually had a worrying amount of temperature varience in the final week so I think I'm very fortunate to have ANY. I'll be taking a close look at my incubator and making some changes based on lessons learned on this clutch. Anyway, here are a couple of photos I took this morning.
A nice stripey one just like mum....

The rest of the bunch including one with pink undertones. The father goes pink when he gets excited lol Some lovely patterns in there. One of them is mostly yellow! Very very nice :) So the mother is a Coastal, the father is 75% Jungle Jaguar, what does that make these guys? I'll be keeping a couple to grow on of course....

I've just seperated the ones that have hatched so far and the number is nine at the moment :) I'm chuffed to bits :) Now if I could just have these others, or even just one of them.... I've pipped them and I can see the occupant but no movement. I suppose they could potentially be good? Maybe just taking a little while longer. Mind you with every day that passes the chances lower.... All I can do now is hope. But I'm feeling very very fortunate with my nine babies, very happy about that :) I love the thought that they will get more and more colourful too! Aaaw they have little fat bellies from the yolk too whic is just crazy cute! lol I'm totally smitten :)

Thanks very much Greg :)

Well I've just had a very very nice surprise at the end of another horrible day of clearing out my mums house. I went up to check the remaining three or four eggs (You know what's coming now don't you lol ) and one of them had a funny dark shape where I pipped it which promptly shot back into the egg when I went in for a closer look!!! I'd just about written the remaining eggs off!! YEEEEEEEEAH !!!!!! Another baby! :) If that one is ok the other two or three could well be ok! If this one hatches out ok that'll be ten so far and possibly another two coming :) Fantastic! Lovely surprise that ! :)

I believe 75% jag x coastal = Pretty Snake. On a serious note I have no idea, Shaun may be able to help you.

Yeah I'd be very interested to hear a few words from someone that knows thier stuff where that is concerned because I just don't on that front. More great news! an eleventh! ! lol Ok I'm in snakey heaven now lol If those two eggs were fine I have another three that should also be fine. That would put me at sixteen which isn't too bad a hatch rate. I'll photograph these guys individually as soon as I possibly can! :)

Jag and Coastal are the same. Jag gene is a morph of the Coastal. So i believe it be 75% Coastal/Jag x 25% Jungle would be my guess.

Cool cheers :) Two more emerged last night one one in particular (at the moment anyway) is really unusual looking! Very nice :) The best way I can describe it is that it looks like it is speckled with little right angle shapes. It looks different to the others anyway but hey, they are all quite different to each other.:) I'm not working at the house tonight or tommorrow so I'll be doing the photographs TONIGHT! :)

How long after hatching doo you wait to feed them? Post shed ?

Feebo
10-15-11, 10:58 AM
I waitied until after the first shed yes. Most of them ate within a couple of attempts and I still have a runt or two but they will be absolutely fine with care, attention and patience :) Can anyone advise on prices for nice Jungle Jag babies and sibs at all? Not quite sure what they go for. I know the sibs will be going fairly cheap so I suppose it's the Jungle Jags I'm asking about mainly... :)

.............. Oh and here's a quick video of a couple of them I did recently :) If I sound tired and in pain that's because I was tired and in pain... lol

They look GREAT!! :D

Hahaha the one around 7:30 doesn't mess around, does he?? Straight for the nose!! Adorable little noodles ya got, just wish I was in the UK so I could get one! :) I'd DIE to own that one with the Star on it's head...one of the best head markings I've seen, including on any of Caponetto's!

What bedding do you use for the li'l guys?

I use wood chippings on all my snakes. I hate that awful aspen stuff. I've just totally loved breeding my Carpets and I look forward to a long breeding life with them hopefully. I have a huge Jungle Jaguar male, a Coastal female and a Jungle female. They're all huge. The male is totally soft! He just wants to crawl all over you and taste everything he possibly can before he goes back in. Both females are are like cats on acid lol The big Coastal is the worst for it. Very entertaining she is. She's how I would imagine a Coastal just plucked from the wild would be. My Jungle female has really learned to trust me but it's been earned over a very long time. She was always very nervous and bitey. I've worked really hard to have her trust me and now I'm really proud of her :) She still does that endearing Carpet trick of putting her face about a millimeter away from my hand while staring longingly at my skin lol Just to show me that if I offend her I can be bitten, bitten and bitten again before I can do a thing about it lol You see one of the babies do that to me in the video lol Really funny that is lol

Feebo

Some are fifteen inches and some are barely ten but that's a guess. I'm really impressed with thier strength at such a young age! lol I got properly perforated by one of the Jungle Jags yesterday lol

Oh cool! Is it your first time too? I had to cancel the cooling less that half way through because my male started wheezing :( If it wasn't for that I would have had two lots of babies but as it is my Jungle female didn't become gravid. Whoaa I'm falling asleep !LOL

they are so awesome! I'm so sorry about the bad stuff, but you are really amazing for being so positive. And what little DOLLS you have! Soo cute! I have a little jungle/coastal brat myself. I love her to bits, but she still bites and poops all over me if she gets the chance *LOL* i've had her for 3-4 months now. She's loads better, but still a litter jerk at times. I'm surprised how much i love her! hehe anyway, so happy for you and they are awesome!
