Ok so last night i went fishing and caught a catfish and got cut by one of its midly venoumous fins. My finger was swollen and red last night and hurts BAD today , i was told not to take asprin or put ice on it by my good friend and fishing buddys . What should i do ?

it may help us if u can tell us what type of catfish it is, but asprin would be bad becoz it thins the blood and would allow the venom to be pumped around your body easier and quicker

Just got back from the docs , he gave me some antibiotics and a list of things to have it heal and not get infected . He said not to worry to much and i should be okay :)

yep sure are as far as im concerned, its never funny when either venom or poison are mentioned in a sentence but its better to get it checked out just incase :)

Yah im no catfish expert , you probally saved me at least a finger , doc said if i was any later it would have probally got infected:)

honestly, it was no problem, i get a frill out of helping those who need it, thats thanks enough, knowing that your ok. :)

I've been stung a few times catching cats in Kentucky and they all went away on their own. Unless you're allergic to it then I would just clean it out, put some iodine on it and ignore the pain. In a few days it's all over with.
