Well my 4 month old baby kingsnake had constipation welmyl still does my vet told me to take a spoonful of olive oil and put it down his throat when hes done shedding he has a few days left um but there's been puss coming out his cloaca last couple days but the swelling went down and im not really sure what that is cuz i've never seem it on my snake's before does anyone have any tips or know why puss.might be coming out please and thanks

the vet told you to put olive oil down it's throat? that's kind of ridiculous.

Gotta agree with Tea...does the vet normally treat reptiles? I have heard of that for dogs and cats but NEVER for a reptile.

It does work.i've done it for my other snake and yea hes a herp vet i thought it was weird first time i heard it to and im more worried about the puss cuz i've never seen it before

Puss is an indication of an infection and as long as it is coming out that is good, however, that does not eliminate the cause of it and I would contact your vet again. It is possible that some substrate got stuck and caused a fissure that got infected. There could be lots of reasons. Call your vet, that is the best way to go from here because he already knows the snake.

If there was already constipation and now there is infection i would lead toward the stool becoming mouldy and infecting the gut lining - get the snake to a vet NOW and make sure it is treated before the onfection becomes septicaemia (sp)
