I was wondering if anyone knew any places or methods to get some encounters with some snakes out here in central florida. I live in the orlando area. I would especially love to see some pygmy rattlers.

In all seriousness, I think out around Apopka would be nice.

I know that I used to see snakes in the water culverts, but it's not really herping.

The parks at silver springs and blue springs really early in the morning before the people traffic gets heavy it's likely to see all sorts of herps out basking in the AM sun.

I lived on the back end of Semeron blvd near the airport, Baldwin park was a nice spot to look.

i just got on google earth and found a few big chunks of undeveloped wetlands that i hope to hit tomorrow and the next few days w/ my friend. these spots are right next to our neighborhood and one of them we can walk to if we cut through 3 or 4 yards from his house. I'm sure i'll see a few cottonmouths or watersnakes but a copperhead or a pygmy rattler would be nice. I saw a black racer in my yard today but it was gone in a flash.

those areas you mentioned are too far for me to go, but i did hit a few ponds in my neighborhood and i saw a cottonmouth but it went right out of the ditch i was walking along and right into some really thick ivy that would make it impossible to find it, in addition to dangerous as i couldn't see anything from my ankle down, it could be between my feet and i wouldn't know it
