Hey peeps, I'm Anna (:
I actually already made a post a while ago and only just discovered this part of the forums! Anyways, hi! I just got my first snake several days ago (plumbeous water snake indigenous to my part of the world in South East Asia) and I'm trying my best to find out as much information as I can to ensure I keep him happy and healthy :3 Aaaand I'm weird and awkward and I don't really know how to end this post so okay bye and thanks in advance for any help you may offer me in the future :'D

Hello and welcome! A pictures of your snake or the scientific or common name would help in giving you the correct information.

Hi everyone, and thanks for the welcome! :D

I've managed to get the information I needed from the forum topic I posted, so I won't be requiring anymore help on the matter. However, just for general information, the snake's scientific name is enhydris plumbea, also commonly known as the plumbeous snake or the rice paddy snake. Here's a picture of him from my webcam when he first came home, he's greyish brown with a cream coloured belly. As you can see he isn't very big, he's maybe about 18-20 inches long and won't get much bigger than that!

Yeep! I was hoping someone would have the same snake but I know they're only found here in South East Asia so tough luck! Preshuz (yep, his name is Preshuz :'D) is still acclimating to his new home in my living room so I can't get many pictures of him. But not to worry, there will be plenty more to come once he's all settled in! :D

Good for you letting him settle in first! You have no idea how few people do that rofl.

Heee, thanks :3 I've been dying to take him out to play with him, he seems tame and pretty calm but I don't want to jinx things by skipping the first step :p Just a few more days!

HI Krazykat!! :D :D So nice to be meeting all you guys... All my friends are afraid of snakes, guys and girls alike! I only know two people who aren't deathly scared of them, jeez! The picture you attached is fairly accurate, except mine is more brown and cream than green and yellow, and is maybe twice that length. Hopefully someone else on here has the same snake so we can compare notes! :p Anyway, I think by tomorrow I should be able to take him out and handle him without him being too uncomfortable. Wish me luck with my new snake friend! XD
