Should prolly let him heal then release, lots of reasons.
1: he was wild so might have parasites
2: he was wild and a corn snake is like 30$
3: someone else can find him and light up their day :)

The Corn Snake (Pantherophis guttatus), or Red Rat Snake, is a North American species of Rat Snake that subdues its small prey by constriction.[1] The name "Corn Snake" is a holdover from the days when southern farmers stored harvested ears of corn in a wood frame or log building called a crib. Rats and mice came to the corn crib to feed on the corn, and Corn Snakes came to feed on the rodents.[2] The Oxford English Dictionary cites this usage as far back as 1676. Corn Snakes are found throughout the southeastern and central United States. Their docile nature, reluctance to bite, moderate adult size 3.9–5.9 feet (1.2–1.8 m), attractive pattern, and comparatively simple care make them popular pet snakes. In the wild, they usually live around 6-8 years, but in captivity can live to be up to 23 years old.[3]
gotta love the internet lol. i bet yours is a w/c okeetee.
he looks a tad bit skinny also, he could use some fattening up.

When i took him to the vet he was clear off parasites and NOT to let him cause his left eye is part blind , i feed him F/T off tongs

The only reason i think it is a motley is that he has not grown to much or changed color or markings since i got him about last october

I dont understand why/how that decides its what line of corn it is??
Its a normal for sure ...a cute one at that

So we all agree this snake is an Okatee ??? How big do they get?
Gungirl

Its a normal and will get about 5-6ft

okatee is only a morph, they all get to the same size, a corn snake is a corn snake and unless theres another species in the mix (a hybrid) then all pure corns get to the same size:
fully grown, between 5 and 6ft
Its a normal and will get about 5-6ft
An okateee is a normal

okeetee is a morph... not a normal.....there is a difference

a normal is a red rat snake ..... this snake is not a red rat snake it is an okatee

gungirl, the picture of the normal in an aquarium, is my normal corn, i just dont want it confused, aarans corn does look remarkably like an okatee, im happy if im wrong and will admit it but from googles pictures and from what i can tell, aarans corn does resemble an okatee morph
You should google it... the pic you put up is a normal.
The first pic is a normal ( RED RAT SNAKE) The second pic is an okatee which is what my snake is ..... The second pic is off google

I would call the snake in question a normal/classic. It does not appear to be an Okeetee.
As far as Okeetee being a morph, it depends on the snake. Some Okeetees are just selectively bred corns that have that Okeetee look to them (thick black borders around the saddles). In that case, I would call Okeetee a morph.
True Okeetees are an actual locale of normal corn snakes. So, depending on the origin of the snake, Okeetee could be considered a morph, or just a variation of a normal/classic.
But I still think that your snake is just a normal/classic and not an Okeetee.

Well said, Reptile65!
Also, for the edification of everyone who wasn't sure if it was a motley, a VERY easy way to tell is by looking at the belly. The motley gene eliminates all belly checking; if you suspect you have a motley, just flip it over and see :)
Note, however, that the diffused gene does the same thing when expressed, so if it's Diffused the belly trick won't necessarily work, then you have to go by pattern appearance or breeding out.
Old post, I know, but allow me to shed some light.
OKEETEES, not "okatees", are snakes with bold, black borders around their saddles. The snake in question here is, indeed, a Normal.

off of Ian's viv, this is a Normal (carolina)
14334
And this is an Okeetee (which on this site it is listed as under "wild types and localities" along with miami-phase, keys (rosy rat), and carolinas (normals))
14335
the site also shows the eys and ventrals of each type which may help you distinguish which you have. Not that it matters since he's beautiful!!
THAT is a beautiful snake!
My Okeetee is in my avatar. The Okeetee is my favorite snake on the planet.
