I can get my hands on a 3 year old female Hypo boa for $100. The owner said that he feeds small amounts in order to keep the snakes on the smaller side. He also said that the Hypo was never sick and never refused a meal.

Is that a good deal?

I've attached a pic of the Hypo and a HypoXhogg he is also selling.

If you get it make sure you feed it right, half starving an animal to "keep it small" is cruelty and shouldnt happen.

the only time under feeding is warrented is when breeders put hatchlings on a maintanence diet.

they feed them that way so the hatchlings don't get too large in their care and therefore cost a lot more to feed until they get sold

keeping a maintenence diet up for their whole lives to try and keep them small is wrong imo

if the guy did not want a big snake he should have bought a smaller species

usually under fed or slow starters tend to be a little smaller than their hatchlings from the same clutch.i have found after putting them on a normal feeding regieme they catch up after a year or 2.some can remain smaller than their siblings but mostly they end up the same size (this has been my personal experience with my slow starters)

cheers shaun

It's a snow corn snake. This guy has been posting this ad on our local craigslist for a while now. He houses both of his boas and his corn snake all together in the same tank.

I hope somebody adopts them and separates them. I can't imagine how much stress those poor snakes must be in.

I would love to rescue one of them, but not sure if his price is acceptable for the snake. In addition, I don't want to end up with a sick snake from the get go. Just don't have that much experience yet.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if those snakes have some medical issues. You're probably better off looking for a healthy, well-started snake.
