Hello all,
I have had my Kenyan Sand Boa for just under two months. He is approximately 4 months old and 10 inches long. His last shed came off in one piece with no issues. However, since I bought him his tail has been dryer than the rest of him. Initially, after doing some research, I tried soaking him over the course of a few days to no avail. My KSB and I thank you in advance for your help.

I would make a humid hide and place it in his terrarium. If he wants humidity the option is there for him.

Stephan i thought KSB's were desert dwellers that need 0% humidity?
To the OP - we have a few KSB owners on here - sure they will be along during the next 24hrs to give you some advice

They are, (not sure about the 0%) But I'm sure if humidity was the solution, and it was available to the lil guy he would know enough to go for it?

:D Nothing is wrong with his tail. That is how they are built.

neat I wonder why?
I believe that it is used for pushing through the dirt....

Ther scales become more keeled as they near the tail this is thought to provide traction as they push through the sand it feels rougher and drier near the tail your boa is just fine

Yup, all is well, my ksb's Tail was just like that, I did have a humid hide in his cage though.... it helped with his sheddng., and when it wasnt humid, she always layer in it.... it was burried under the sand with a top enterance, she loved it.
