This is in regards to my leopard geckos, but it is more about the breeder I bought them from. Thought I would voice my concern about them to see what you think. If it is something to be cautious of I would want to warn people of them.

Basically when I went to the expo in April to pick up my two leo girls I have now there was a female that was gravid with fertile eggs. They were selling her at normal price but didn't hide the fact that she was with fertile egg. At the time I asked them about it they just said that if I wasn't ready to have baby geckos that I could just simply let the eggs be laid by the female...and then just toss the eggs once she has them.

At the time I didn't think much of it, but it just sorta hit me how odd it sounded. A breeder of leopards selling a gravid female with fertile eggs just telling me to throw away the eggs once she has laid them...seems rather heartless and leads me to wonder if they do this to unwanted eggs themselves. Or maybe they were just trying to make a sale?

What do you think?

Doesn't sound "right" to me?

Allot of people do it, I personally don't believe in it though. My opinion is, as a breeder/owner, if you aren't ready for babies, keep the males away from the females... Doing otherwise will just cause the females to burn unnecessary calories making eggs, and possibly get egg bound.

That is what I thought. I figured it took away from the female and there were risks of unneeded complications. Now I am wondering if by not buying her I sentenced those eggs to death.
