Is this safe ? URGENT

I am making a new cage for my motley corn snake and i made one half mulch and the other sand . But the sand is from my own backyard . Is this safe ?

freeze it/cook it and your good. its mostly insects and eggs you need to worry about.
Regarding some reptiles i know you shouldn't include sand in their substrate, duno if corns fall into this group

No sand - the majority of snakes have issues with sand in their scales.

I just read that sand isnt good for snakes so i removed it and cleaned the mulch . Thanks guys :)
