Right now I have 1 common garter snake, 1 milk snake. I will be slowly expanding my collection and hope to be breeding some in the next few years. I'm on a serious hunt to find me a nice female garter snake.

Your about... 10-15 minutes from one of the best herping places in gatineau:P
I live like 5 minutes away from it lol, tons of turtles, gaters, ribons, ring necks, red bellies, caught 1 rattler last year and there are TONS of salamanders there aswel.

oh really? I've spent over 100 hours in there flipping every single branch, twig, log, leaf litter, rock ect. Haven't found nothing!! I am dying to find a rattler for taking pictures and 1 nice female garter :( the garters are like my favorite snake in the world aside from Indigos, Pink lake trail is one of the trails I do. I'm likely going back this morning in about 7 or 8 hours. Where exactly are the garters!!! :(100 hours + haven't found anything but mosquitoes :(

Tell you what, this weekend my cousin and I are going herping, you guys can tag along if you like. I'm also going tomorrow.
Alternatively I can just give you a few locations and you can check them out solo. To be honest though, the beach near my place is the only densely populated snake area in our immediate area. Its loaded with Northern water snakes but it has its share of milk snakes and garters and pines aswel. In all my years herping I've only found 2 rattlers in Canada, one was in Toronto and 1 was at the place I'm heading to this weekend, its a possibility but don't get your hopes up.
I'm in lol I will go tomorrow to wherever this place is, I won't have my gf's car she takes it to work but I can bus to the entrance of Gatineau park near the subway on Boulevard Alexandre Tache, how far of a walk is the beach from that location I gave you? I'm excited as hell now lol
pine snakes in gatineau park? you sure they aren't something else? I never heard of naturally occuring pine snakes anywhere near us

Actually its not the gatineau park.
Assuming your at place du portage under the bridge, take the 67 "promenades" or the 77 "magnus" to "les promenades" and get out, wait for the 96 or the 74 and ask the driver to let you out at "lac beau champ" or the 78 and ask him the same thing, if you take the 78 you will be let out on "rue notredame" just walk off it towards the driving range (1 block) and your at the entrance of lac beauchamp. If you have facebook add me stephan bakir my profile pic is a retic egg with twins.
