I am not sure what the OP we are disgusted about I don't know if it is the fact that some of Florida reptile keepers are releasing animals in the wild or the misunderstood joke of python wrestling. Large Pythons are not native to Florida therefor the biologists need pythons wrestling classes. because it is not a animal they readily study or prepare for. Trust me if they try and put people fighting animals on Pay-Perview PETA and every animal activist alive will put a stop to it. Bad taste maybe but none the less just a joke. Anyone that owns large snake knows about the proverbial wrestling matches that occur when removing or replacing animals to there cages.

Thats just it, I've worked with these pythons for YEARS and I can tell you that 99% of the time, you don't "remove" them from their cage unless you want to fight. It's much easier to simply open the viv and let them come out on their own, when it comes to retics they come out in seconds and then you guide them where you want them. (you can hold the snake up and point his head in a direction and he will just go)

"wrestling" a wild snake is a silly idea, I've caught them in the past and it's simple but difficult. if you follow 2 rules you should be fine 1: control the head 2: don't let it get a single coil around you.

When it comes to monster snakes you CANNOT overpower them alone, but even a 140 pound individual can gain control over them solo. (not advised) For the most part, all reptiles have crazy low endurance and if you play it safe for 5 minutes they will tire out and be masses of dead weight with a pointy end.

The thing is about this statement is that they would only step in once an animal lost. Let the animal win and then everything is a-okay.

stephan, what experience do you have working with big pythons and where have you wrestled and captured wild retics in the past?

I bred retics in the past, and we had this beastly Wc male we tried to prove out.
Also caught my share of 12foot+snakes in the wild. Not nearly as many as some but lots considering the time it took me.

Technically I could move to east or west coast canada and get ocean, but who wants to swim in a fridge:P I've swam in Bc and PEI and it was pretty cool, lotsa ocean life but I prefer tropical climate. Not sure if I will ever leave Canada but it's on my mind every day.

Even if it was CBB, if it was living in the wild it's probably going to be a bit aggressive, if it wasn't it would probably be dead...

This snake was only 6 foot and gave me 7 stitches
