View Full Version : Only in america......
Today i went to a pet store and went to the herp section and i saw a cage with a ball python in it , and in the back there was 2 dead pastels:mad:.
I instantly told the store owner and he gave me a free rat for my snake.

America isnt the only place... Petsmart was selling a ball python as a corn snake a few months back... normaly there is 1 or 2 dead animals in there.
Yah , i went to pet supermarket and they were selling a motley as a creamsicle corn.

I can't stand petsmart or petco. Not only overpriced but terrible husbandry. Right next the the rack of pamphlets saying how important it is to have the necessary heat for RTBs to be able to digest food....is a cage of RTBs with a thermomemter that reads 70F.....................................

ANY "chain" pet store cannot keep up or handle their herps as well as other live animals properly. You can find hurt birds, diseased fish, skinny rodents, ect ect Honestly I think they should just sell pet supplies and *maybe* do their cat/dog adoptions. Keep away from any live sales. They are awful places really.

I have to agree, I find almost all Chain stores to have disturbingly poor husbandry. Ontop of hiring people who have no idea about the animals they care for.
PJ's Pets near me is actually decent for herps, only because the Reptile manager is a pro and has huge standards... thats pretty rare tho. Of course that very same PJs sells diseased dogs and lies about their medical records/shots etc.

I'm hoping I get a job at a pet store taking care of herps while waiting to find a real job, Maby I can teach them a little something and improve overall care :)

Petsmart isnt bad around here, its pets supplies plus. Bought my girlfriends ball python from there (stupidly), it had mites, we treated that and i think he appreciated that. well its been a few months and they were supposed to be 'clean' of all mights, except all of there reptile water dishes, were full of MOLD! and half of them were empty! its sickening!
