Finally a postive show for reptiles!!

This show is awesome, finally true facts about reptiles from people who love them! Im thrilled! we need to tune in and fully support what these guys are doing for the reptile community and for florida!!

Interesting show, but they picked a hell of a name -.-

how come?? they are hunting pythons the pythons in florida do need to be takin care of. But as doing so they disprove all the myths that are miseducating people about this issue! I actually think its very smart for them to have a picked a name like that because it will help increase attention from nonreptile keepers and people who think all pythons/snakes need to be killed..they tune in and might actually get to see a new light on the subject. This is exactly what we needed to help turn stuff around :D

We def need to get correct info out there and work out some of the myths to put people at ease. just don't like the name.

the name fits the show... they are hunting pythons.. i guess, sure, it could be something different so its not thought of as them going out killing them, but they are python hunters going out looking for them, and its a great show. IMHO the name fits the show.

I have seen i think every episode of this show and i cant wait for the new ones to come out.. i just wish there were more shows about reptiles like this out there.. there are a few i seen i believe on nat geo as well called... well i dont remember, but one was about green anacondas, one about rattlers, and one about the king cobra (my all time fav. snake ) it was a good show, showing how they all hunted and all sort of stuff. sorry i cant remember the name :(

There is still plenty of false info presented on the show.
They recently had a section that spoke pretty ill of tegus, calling them large, very agressive lizards that rarely if ever make good pets...
Better than most I would agree, but not perfect by any means.

This show is about dispelling all the hype and rumors about the burms in florida, about studing how many are truely out there, what they are really eating (rats and rabbits) how they arent getting nearly as big as the media is stating, they are bringing kids into as well..I think its great! They were sent out there to catch pythons, they humanely euthanize them (not shown on the show) and do a necoraspy to prove they arent eating endagered species and what kind of health they are in..alot of which have serious cases of RI. Also dispelling rumors of them eating american alligators lol I think its great there using their "hunting" permits as a way to bring new light to the situation. You know their are 147 species of non-native animals/reptiles out in florida..thats crazy florida has some serious issues to work out and it doesnt start with banning pythons and boas..

I think the part about tegus and igaunas are true, meaning that they sell these animals at bottom prices in your average petstores to newbies. There is a high number of accidents/incidents of people getting hurt from these animals. I wouldnt consider them great first pets more for the experinced person. A friend of mine met these guys at a show and says these guys are top notch herpers and put their whole lifes in positive education about these animals and the protection of our hobbie. They get a total and complete thumbs up from me!!

I think the part about tegus and igaunas are true, meaning that they sell these animals at bottom prices in your average petstores to newbies. There is a high number of accidents/incidents of people getting hurt from these animals. I wouldnt consider them great first pets more for the experinced person.

I'm not talking about iguanas. I'm talking about Tegus, the Argentine Tegu specifically. Not only are they far from cheap ($200+), but they are also known as one of, if the not the most docile of the large lizard species.
I made a very specific statement about a very specific species, as did the show. I didn't say they were great first pets, etc. But calling them aggressive, and generally terrible pets is far from the truth.


A friend of mine met these guys at a show and says these guys are top notch herpers and put their whole lifes in positive education about these animals and the protection of our hobbie. They get a total and complete thumbs up from me!!
I don't doubt that these guys are great people, with great knowledge, etc.
But I didn't say anything ill about these guys in particular, rather about the show itself. In fact, it was the narrator that spoke negatively about Tegus. I would bet the narrator's views (lines) are not always the same as the guys in the show. Further, I doubt the actual python hunters have anything to do with putting together, editing, etc, of the show itself.

In fact, it was the narrator that spoke negatively about Tegus. I would bet the narrator's views (lines) are not always the same as the guys in the show. Further, I doubt the actual python hunters have anything to do with putting together, editing, etc, of the show itself. Therefore the show in its entirety shouldn't be a complete reflection of the men showcased in it.
