Bullsnake feeding:)

Well, i decided to feed my albino bullsnake a live mouse this time. My frozen pinkies aint satisfying it so i decided to feed him something bigger. Here's the vid!

I could never bring myself to feeding live, its a terrible way to die, and it could be harmful to the snake.

In what way was frozen food not "satisfying it"? And is that just a feed tub or its permanent home?

The box its in is way too small as rob stated.

I'd also like to point out that switching some snakes from live to F/T is a pain in the neck, why in the world would you want to swap him over to live only to put him through swapping to F/T again?

the fuzzies i have thats frozen is very small. I felt that a large mouse would satisfy it for a longer time. Plus, im new to snakes and have always been curious about how snake hunts. I wanted to see what it would do to a live mouse. btw, im not planning to feed it any more live mouse. The frozen fuzzies i get are free so i'll be using them for future feedings

HUGE tear in its skin. A great reason why you shouldn't feed live unless you need to.

If he wants to feed live, it's his choice. Many people feed live each year, rarely is the snake injured, and in most times it's because of a keeper issue- nothing else. I kept bulls for years as a kid, and I fed them all live mice, because in all reality- the mouse won't touch the bull ever, it's an appropriate sized normal food item for a bullsnake. You'll get problems feeding a large rat to a ball python- because ball pythons don't eat large rats in the wild- they eat the more mouse sized african soft furs.

No reason to bash him for it.

I agree with the above statements about tank size. 20 gallon long or 40 gallon breeder would be better.

Please do provide documentation that shows wild ball pythons eating prey such as domestic rats? I'd love to read such an article. I'd find it much more reasonable that they would eat ASFs regularly than tackling large rodents such as rats...

As for bullsnakes, I frequently find these guys around areas heavily populated with mice, it's their main prey item- despite the fact that bulls can and will grow over 7'. Hell I've even found 7' huge males living off of soley mice...

As for tank size- anything longer would be reasonable for that individual- who looks about 2.5 feet I'd say? I keep all my adult pits in 41qt tubs.

I don't agree.

I have two friends who have separate collections with over 40+ BP's that feed them ASF's one even breeds his own colony of them and the other is starting to. .

I'd say they eat anything they can kill and fit in there mouth in the wild?
