Yeah, it's relieving to see them feed they go without eating, or move or whatever, it's good.

share with us for future reference what you tried differently this time...my 2 year old female BP went 3 weeks off feed and I finally tried a Live Md Mouse and she fed. I tried for 3 weeks with different colored small rats and even tried male/female differences. The live mouse worked because I think it reminded her instincts more of an ASF.......share with us your struggle and follow through.

3 weeks is nothing to worry about, I've had snakes go off feed for almost a year without any issues, and others have had longer.

Colour/gender have nothing to do with it, just wait they will get hungry.

I didn't think that ASF were part of ball pythons diet...

ASFs are noted as one of the largest parts of BP's natural diet!!

I've done some extensive research and in a bunch of the books I've been reading it states that the African Soft Furred rats are the natural diet of a BP.......

What does "ASF" stand for in your referral?

African Soft Fur rat / Natal
I am under the understanding that the name was misleading

this would be a first hearing that the ASF is not the natural diet of a BP.....do you have any research stating this? I don't want to be passing on bad information......

"Ball pythons DO NOT eat African Soft Furred Rats.
Wikipedia (the preeminent source of knowledge for the lazy and feebleminded) and you, for quoting them, are wrong. Gasp!!! Natals, or African Soft Furred Rats, despite their name, are indigenous to Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Ball pythons are indigenous to West Africa. To save you from having to go back to Wikipedia; they are thousands of miles apart"

? Not once did I say you were wrong, just stating facts. Some books are pretty bad with info as well. Sure list your sources

i did nothing differently.. just tossed a girbil which aparently is the only thing he ate before.. this time he took it ( i had tried a few time before) today he ate a mouse :) i put the mouse in a box with substrate that the girbils had been in ans left it there for an hour or so then i gave the mouse to my snake and he took it in under 2 mins :) im soo happy! thats 2 small meals this week. im gonna wait a full week before trying a bigger mouse :)

Good luck man. If I were you I'd start him on small rats if they are small enough for him, its hard to switch some BP's from mice to rats. You are going to need to do it later anyway.
