I was recently at a friends house and he's keepin' his herps on peat moss, it's apparently low maintenance and cheap. Just curious.

Works well for humid hides but if it dries out too much it goes pretty manky

The problem we have found with peat moss and humidity ( mostly for tarantulas in our experience) is that it molds quite readily !

I don't personally use it but all the reading I've come across about using peat moss in herp enclosures is to mix it with something. Our big water dragon enclosure is going to be roughly 60/30/10 Cypress/peat moss/sand.
