I have a Brook's Kingsnake and something weird about its behavior just happened today!

I have had this specimen for slightly more than a month now. I fed it a hopper yesterday, and its my first time introducing a calcium-dusted mice. Right after feeding, it defecated and chilled out in its water dish. This morning Ii woke up to find that it had moulted. I have been handling it almost every other day and it did not turned "blue" before shedding. And of all my snakes, the Brooks was the only one to accept food prior to shedding. It is still chilling in its water dish after the shed.

Has anyone had a smiliar experience?

Yes, it's uncommon, but it does happen.

Its uncommon for snakes to shed without going blue, that being said it isn't uncommon for snakes to eat while in blue.

also not uncommon for them to completely refuse food during a shed. my BP is a fantastic eater and he totally made me waste a f/t last time he was going into shed lol.

Wow... Didnt know snakes can shed without goin into blue... Why are you dusting the mice with calcium though?

Sometimes the extra calcium can be a good thing. Back when I bred retics we used to inject soon to be moms with vitamins and for the next few meals after laying eggs just to help them over that hump.

Edit: We injected the food items, not the snakes.

Hmmm, none of my collection will eat prior to shedding.. But its still hsnging out in its water dish. Certainly something i don't expect after a shed. And no (thankfully), it isn't mites..

About half of my collection will eat while in the blue, I have even had them eat and shed in the feed box all in the same 15 minutes.
