Just thought I'd mention that what I've been working on for 5 years, has finally occurred. Checked my Tiger Rats today and I'm about 90% sure that one of my females is GRAVID. I can't tell you how stoked I am, I was very disappointed that it didn't happen last year and there's almost no guidelines on how to breed this species.

My trio consists of a '06F, '07F and '07M. They've been kept together for at least the last year, all of the are at least 7-8'. I did a winter 'cool down' by turning off the heat and light until March 1, then I flooded the cage and started daily mistings. Hope to see a nice clutch of eggs and babies pipping in 75 days.

Anyone have knowledge of best incubation practices for this species?

Wish i could help you but i don't know anything about the species. If i were you i would look up any similar species that you know of and make an educated guess regarding temperature and humidity for incubation.

Best of luck!

My guess will be ~80 degree and 70% humidity

Not saying that this is going to happen, but allot of breeders who hold a monopoly on breeding something will feed you misinformation regarding the species they are monopolizing so that they remain the only producer for as long as possible.

Just tossing it out there

That's always possible, I'm telling myself that they should be able to hatch on the shelf in my garage. All my other colubrids can.

I use damp vermiculite in a mostly closed container

Have you thought of maternal incubation? not sure if this species does this.
When you maternally incubate eggs its important to keep the temperature slightly lower then they need so the mother can heat the eggs up by either making trips back and forth from a heat source and warming herself then the eggs like a ball python, or small body twitches/shivering like a retic

There are a couple of posters over on redtailboa.net that would probably share info with you.

SerpentesCiconii is incubating Spilotes eggs now and LdyDrgn and morti used to breed them. We need more people breeding these guys, I'd love to get one someday...good luck!!

Hi Steve, thanks for the link. All my animals are from LdyDrgn. Sorry to hear they aren't breeding them any more, thought I heard their female died?
