View Full Version : Hello - Is my Ball Python too small?
Hey everyone, i got my Ball Python as a hatchling in December 2009, i've always thought it was a little on the small side, but i measured it today and realised it's only 27 inches. Is this normal for a Ball Python of this age?
Thanks, Dan.
(Sorry if this is in the wrong place, new to the whole forum thing)

I have a ball python too, he's 9 years old and 4 feet long. I don't know if yours is small for his age though, sorry

Uhhh i would say no but i dont have too much experience,
Im pretty sure just over two feet would be normal for a bp that old then again i know someone with more experience will be along

welcome to the forum , what are you feeding your guy and how often , how often does he shed and what is his general husbandry like? This is more important than his size really , although this seems small to me.
Depends, what does he weigh?

Do you have a photo? I would think as long as he is eating fine he should be ok.

Its the weight we need to know to answer his question
I guess the Brits are OK with having small balls...

IT not how big they are but what you do with them that matters! ;)
"Do with them"? They do tricks? Do you dress them up, put little sombreros on them and swing them around at parades?

If they're little, I bet they're GREAT for Bocce...almost impossible for the other players to hit, I would think.

He sounds fine. Mine is an early '10 and he's only 25". As long as he is healthy (eating shedding pooing eating) there is no need to worry about size.
I have a corn snake that I've had since Thanksgiving of 09', he's 33" and has the same girth as most corns that are only about 25", but his bones aren't showing at all, at first I was worried but you have to just accept that some snakes are smaller, some snakes are bigger :)
There's a guy on another forum I'm on who has a burm appropriately named NeverGrow--that snake is tiny compared to other burms his size! But he's healtyh so the owner is not concerned.
