hello... i'm new to the forums and don't know where i should post this question. please redirect me in case i'm posting in the wrong space. and apologies if i am!

i found this in my garden this morning. couldn't get another picture. would like to know what this snake is. one person says it's a copperhead. another says it's a corn snake. any ideas?

i live in northern ny, by the way, north of the adirondacks.

help wld be appreciated!

Welcome to the forums. what you have there is a Lampropeltis Triangulum Triangulum. A Common eastern milk snake.

Infernalis has got it right.

But just for your own information in the future...

Venomous snakes, especially in the US, have generally triangular heads while non venomous snakes have a slender head like the one above.

Notice above in the picture the triangular head. That is a copperhead BTW
