Too easy, keep them warm and fed, nature does the rest.

that's like breeding rats. i asked all these questions and pretty much all i needed to know was "feed them, give them water, clean their cage every now and then and leave them alone" lol

They are vegetarians, so cannibalism will never happen, they are community driven and function as a colony.

I just got 100 roaches from Roaches-R-us and am happy with the assortment.

BTW he also has this site..

Quick question for those of you who have bred them.. I'm picking up a mixed colony of 500 individuals probably tomorrow. Any idea how fast they will breed and the approx numbers I may have in 3..6...12 months?

500 is a good starter colony, just don't feed off your breeders, and I doubt you will run out of roaches anyday soon.

I feed mine bannanas, oranges, apples and squash.

I won't be feeding off any of the large ones except surplus males maybe near the start, I'll probably give them a month or 2 to establish before I touch anything.

Just wanted to add a question - does the colony restrict its numbers depending on how much room it has? Our colony hasnt really grown or shrunk (even with feeding them to the lizards) it is almost like they are balancing their numbers?

It seems the same here Rob.. strange?

When the mould wiped out most of my colony, the remaining females wore my sole male into an early grave, I never seen my roaches locked up until then??

I just got in 100 mixed sizes & have a dozen new winged males arriving next week.

I'm still trying to get my hands on some Dubia Roaches.

I have heard they are illegal in Canada before.

In fact Roaches-R-Us will not ship to Canada.
