Chances are decent IF they are both breeding size and age, an you know what you are doing. That being said cross breeding isn't advised, not only do you have a ridiculously high chance of slugs and stillborns but its hard to sell crosses. our retic/burm bateater clutch ha 20+ slugs 5+ stillborns and 3 fertile only 2 of which survived.

yea i would say i defiantly agree. If your interested in breeding i think you should find a mate for your new Coastal, you wouldn't regret it.

...um im guessing 50/50... maybe they will but then again maybe they won't... i guess you just gotta throw 'em in together and see what happens...
this question is hilarious. do some research dude.
if there upto breeding weight and are an ok age then why dont you try it and let us know the outcome.
i for one would like to see this,i was thinking a female yellowbelly ball x jungle carpet python, now that would be very nice.
hava look at this vid of the carpal

To each their own!! I will never try to produce or own a hybrid, but am fascinated by how beautiful some of them can look...

WHAT THE F! You can cross breed species???? Besides the high chance of slugs/stillborns being a disadvantage what else is there? What are the rules? Any python to python, boa to boa??

Please don't crossbreed.. If you want to breed either breed same species or morphs, much more rewarding and you'll have animals people actually desire.

That was a good description of why not to.

I wasn't planning on breeding my burm to my retic. I had a nice lav albino tiger picked out for the retic so i had cooled him for about 3 weeks, tossed him in with the lav and nothing so i put him back in his viv (it was pitch black and i didnt want to turn on the lights and wake the dog) turns out i tossed him in with the burm and the next morning i come downstairs to see them locked up.
Bat-eaters are beautiful, but i cant see myself doing it again.

Anyone know the "rules" on coastals x bredli? i've heard bredli recently broke away from the pack with some sort of scale count but I can't find an article.

It's a "cross"... Morelia spilota mcdowelli x Morelia bredli no diffrent to a carpondro, Morelia viridis x Morelia spilota ssp.

My hybrids were very much wanted!
There are some stunning hybrids out there.
Some stunning ones here:

We already selectively breed snakes to get the best morphs, best colouring etc etc so the snakes that are mating may not have ever got together in the wild - the same can be said of hybrids.
AS LONG AS the babies are ALWAYS remarked on as hybrids and never disguised as anything else then personally i cant see the problem.
Would i own one - probably not but then i probably eouldnt own a BP morph either ;)

While some of the hybrids produced are nice, problem is, your promoting people somewhat new into the hobby to start producing ridiculous crosses that have no reason to exist. The general public does not want hybrids, they want morphs of a single species.

Not even remotely the same. There's a difference between improving the genetic line of a species, and completely bastardizing 2 species just for the fun of it. It's not accepted well in the hobby by the vast majority of keepers.

It'd be hard to not spot such a cross, and in all honesty, they would be worth very little, be full of genetic problems, and not a good thing for either snake.

Though not personally a fan of hybrids, I can understand the appeal of crossing a snake from the same genus and geographical location, for example 2 North American Rat Snakes, as some are quite stunning. But what I don't get is trying to cross snakes who would never have any possibility of meeting or mating in the wild, especially those that have different husbandry requirements. Just my 2 cents on the whole cross-breeding discussion.

We shall agree to disagree. I own 2 hybrids. I am breeding them next year and I already have quite a few people who want one of the hatchlings!

I'm not going to tell anyone what to do but I tend to call them Barpets instead of Carpalls. Barpets sounds so silly that i could never bring myself to want to own one haha. Desired Effect.
