After a lot of consideration and a dwindling supply of FT pinky mice I decided to try weaned rats for the gopher snakes I acquired.

The head went down smooth.

I thought that mabye the ft broke in two but I think its the snakes head under its body.

I think with a meal this size I may want to wait two weeks until the next feed?

I think you could try for a week instead of two weeks. I know my girl, who is much smaller, often looks like that after she eats. And normally she eats every week with no problem.

Prolly wont need to wait 2 weeks, wait for her bulge to go down and give her a few days but it should digest quickly.

I think a read a couple of times somewhere from different sources that after a snake poos they are ready to eat again. But I am not sure on that overall.

Not with all snakes, some snakes poo once they have digested their meal, while some snakes (green annies and probably others) will poo almost daily.

Thanks for clearing that up Stephan. I figured it was a case to case basis.

I swear, I think my garters crap every few hours.
I can clean a cage, and in a couple days time, it looks like I neglect my animals.

Our biggest retic had a dirty cage so i took the time to clean it. Once i was done i put her back in and started putting all the cleaning tools away and i hear this faint gurgling, turn around and shes spewing everywhere lol.
Sometimes i think it amuses them to watch us clean after them

My King is the same. Seems to crap everyday and he's not happy to just leave a neat blob in the corner, no, he has to smear it all over the place and deposit some in his water bowl too

I had a JCP that pooped every 8 days or so but released just urates every other day for the first year I had him. I was using paper towel so there was no spot cleaning. Was terrible.

I feed all my North American species every 5-7 days like clockwork. My pine snake would eat every 3-4 if I let her..
