Okay got some unexpected money in and so went and bought some more rocks and some more substrate. They didn't have my alfalfa pellets so I grabbed more Sani Chips. Oh and I got the light replaced but found out that it wasn't the bulb but something about the lamp didn't like the bulb. So yeah gonna have to replace the lamp soon so I don't have to balance it on rocks like it is now.

And yes I know there is a TON of substrate in there LOL I wanted him to be closer to the lamp without having to buy a ton of rocks. He will have fun digging himself a ditch to sleep in tonight!!

Will reduce as I get more rocks maybe. What do ya'll think?

hahah he looks so cool the way he's got his head up, almost like hes showing off lol. I dont know the first thing about housing these guys. I noticed you said he likes to dig himself little ditches, looks like hes got all kinds options with that now. =]

Oh yeah he can bury himself a nice big hole now...bury himself completey if he wants!

As for his proud look...he was a total grump today. Had his beard all black and puffed with his mouth hissing. Didn't like me changing his home at first. We will see what he "says" tomorrow when I give him his greens.

I had to go back to the first picture after reading this to see if i could picture him doing that, and i really can hahaha, he looks pretty serious. I thought they eat insects? (again i know really nothing about them or any lizard for that fact) I guess a good assumption would be to say there omnivorous? lol Sense your a snake and a lizard owner would you say that lizards show more personality then snakes? lol

Oh yeah he is a grumpy "old" man. Dragons live 10 years max and he is 4 years now. Not truly old, but he has certianly blossomed into a grump most days. When he is getting warm he doesn't like to be messed with.

Dragons are primarily insect eaters for the first year of their life. Then when they reach adulthood they shift to about a 50/50 green eater as well as bug eater. Though with my guy he doesn't like his greens as much as his bugs LOL

As for personality Lizards have TONS more personality than snakes. Though both certainly do. If you haven't gotten a lizard I would suggest that you do eventually :) Beardies are great. They start nice and little and within one year explode in size.

Oh well I meant that I would decrease the level of his bedding and add more rocks. The rocks hold heat better than the substrate.

Ive been around a smaller Sav Monitor they wasnt happy unless he was sinking his little teeth into someone lol. Your dragon looks very impressive though im almost positive thats the kind of lizard id get. Oh and one other question there not fast like some Water monitors right?

Oh they are not biters at all. Never heard of any dragon well taken care of and handled regularly biting someone. Some have called them the "puppy" of the lizard world. They can be grumps but even at KyJinn's worst he has never come near biting me. He will just hiss and flare his neck, maybe an odd tail whip. But that is rare.

As for being fast...As babies they are REALLY fast and can be flighty. Thus when handling a baby you have to hold them in an area that they can't run and hide. Usually their tank is the best place. Eventually they will get used to being handled and not be all bolty. As they get older and bigger they can be real lounge lizards. At the show I went to they had a huge (2x the size of my guy) male that just say wherever he was put...be it on someone's shoulder or on a table.

There are several different subspecies of dragons. Mine is an inland dragon and he is smaller than some of the other species. So find a good breeder that can tell you the different kinds of dragons and what kind they breed and you will know what you are getting. I didn't know until this past weekend what kind I had. The pet store I bought him from was just like "Its a bearded dragon and we need them gone" kind of attitude. I always thought he was a runt or his finicky eating got the better of him as far as growth is concerned...but turns out he is average for an Inland Bearded Dragon.

Cant you just boil a rock and make a herp safe rock that way? i figure 20-30 seconds in boiling water should kill everything.

I am not sure. I am always so worried about parasites and such that I just go buy the fake rocks that look and feel like rocks at area pet stores (hard to find for some reason lately). However I have heard boiling or baking can work...but I am no expert to know.

They honestly sound like really good pets, surprised ive never looked into them before now. But then again i was uneducated about them before now.

Its totally cool. I took KyJinn to a expo this weekend when I bought my two leopard geckos and so many people gushed over him and was surprised on how he didn't mind to be handled, pet, and what not. I think many people ended up buying a bearded that day after we talked to them like I am talking to you :)

There's this really big Expo in Myrtle Beach, SC. Its called the ICExpo, its suppose to be one of the biggest expo's in the South-East. Im pretty excited about it. I went to my first one only a month ago in NC. But anyways i think that's great that you brought him up there, i couldn't bring my carpet he'd nibble on somebody passing by hahah.

You ought to consider going to that big expo and snagging yourself a bearded :) I don't think you would regret it one bit. Just have to get yourself a tank, rocks, odd driftwood, lamp+bulb and substrate. Oh and have the patience to run out often to get crickets for the first year.
