they can get pretty large. just do a search here for 'chomper' and you will see several threads with photos. you can't go wrong with a beardie.

Honestly not a critter I would have around an infant.

Seriously! You now want to get a bosc monitor yet a few weeks ago you couldn't afford to feed your gecko??

Look into how much it costs to feed them! I know of a few people who have jobs and still cant get one as the food bill for them is pretty huge!

We have designed our Bosc/Sav monitor home and cost it at around £25,000, admittedly this is giving them a 5star luxury home rather than "an enclosure" but for an animal that big and intelligent i want mine when i manage to afford one to have everything it could possibly need.

25,000?
I gotta see some pics or drawings of this.
That's insane.

Brief outline - 8 foot by 8 foot room with a 6 foot depth of soil, whole room kept at ambient temps with basking spots, one wall will be the outside wall of the house, this will have a pool 4 foot wide built under the wall so that the monitor can swim from inside to outside, the pool itself will have drainage so that it can be easily drained, cleaned and refilled. The st of the outside wall will be heavy duty rubber matting as used in some cold rooms for a doorway, the monitor can push through it but at the same time it will keep heat in the room, there will also be a "proper" door that can be closed at night. Outside there will be a sixteen foot long enclosed space, including under soil enclosure so that it cant dig its way out. The outside enclosure will be hested during the day with basking spots as well as space heater type things to keep it at a decent relative temp. We are also considering and under soild heating element under the outside enclosure to heat teh soil and enclosure that way also.

I would say that this is all estimations and ideas at this point, we are waiting for a lottery win in orderto finance it but we have decided that until we can provide this amount of space we wont be getting a sav.

Might be interesting to read through before you build yours, there are a few interesting design ideas on that post.
