He looks sooo cute! Seems like he will be fun to handle once he gets used to his new home :) Congrats. He seems to be somewhat brown or red...hard to tell behind the glass. Does he have red in him?

Oh I do agree, just trying to decide on the color. And by red I don't mean albino. You know hoggies come in different phases. Like a yellow, green, brown, or red. Ya know?

Its like he is saying "welcome home dad! Now where is my food?" Hee hee. My girl is out from about noon until 5pm. Tomorrow she will be active before then probably because she will be fed.
Lucky her, I bought some live pinks and froze them this weekend. So she will have a full tummy and maybe I can get some pics of her so we can all see her lump LOL

It is cheaper to buy pinkies in bulk alive and freeze them than buy a box of 6. Also the ones in the box I have seen are really small blob like things rather than these larger pinkies that I get. For 15 pinkies I paid 9 dollars...but if I buy 50 I can get a discount and only pay 20 dollars. Its a local "grower" in Texas. Seen them at every expo I have been to. And they deliver.

wow nice do you think, if you bought 50 pinks and froze them, would they still be good a month later? im going to go see if the petstores around here sell live pinks. lol

rodents will keep in the freezer for several months. you will get a better price if you can find a private breeder such as NennaMeerkat does.

Keep in mind pet stores will charge you more than a surplus rodent dealer. The two guys I buy from do nothing else but breed and sell rodents (mice and rats only I think) to be fed either live or dead to animals. Thus their prices are really really low. You might pay 2 dollars a pinkie at a pet store.
However! I will say the quality of pinkie that you buy live and freeze yourself is going to be MUCH better than those little blobs you get in the blue box. Also your snake looks to be about the size of mine and since that is the case you can easily feed your guy a bigger sized pinkie...something with just a tiny bit of fuzz on it rather than the tiny tiny newborns.
I will post a picture of the pinkie when I get it out of the freezer tomorrow next to a blue box one so you can see the size and quality difference.

LOL I think my girl is afraid of heights...she NEVER tries to climb. Epic shot though. Does he flare his neck out or hiss at you? Or is he comfy with you as long as he is in his tank?

Oh and Thomas here is a thread I made that shows you the quality difference of a "fresh" frozen pinkie vs. the prepackaged ones.

Wait until he has fed for you regularly...like 3 times in a row. Then start slow by putting your hand in the tank without actually messing with him. After that just start gently picking up his tail and back portion and allowing him to slide through your fingers or hand. Gradually over time he will get used to the touching and you can work on lifting him up off the ground while still in the tank allowing him again to just move out of your hands. It will take some time for him to get used to you messing with him and he might poo, hiss, fake strike, and whatever else. But just keep at him and be patient.

yeah his next feeding is on friday and he will hopefully eat. i think he has gotten a little used to me because he is in my room and when first got him he woulld always hide if he saw me but now he doesnt seem to mind me to much now. he just goes were ever now lol but what is funny is that sometimes when i wake up in the morning i look at his cage and all i see is him staring right at me lol and he wont stop, he will stare at me till i leave lol but what should i do about his poop. lol he has pooped twice since i have had him and the first was in the open but the second is in between his hide and the glass. he literally pooped on the glass lol. should i just not mess with it since it could possiibly stress him into not eating or should i clean it and not worry about him? i would have to take the whole hide out to clean it.

Nah wait until he is sleeping, sometime at night when he is in his hide and is asleep. Then just gently scoop the poo out. It should be dry by now so don't be afraid to do it with your hand and just scoop it out. With the one on the glass if it is dry you will have to get a damp paper towel and just wash it off real quick like. Move the hide a little and get as much of it off as you can. This is also another reason why you should try feeding outside the tank. Gives you time to clean the tank without worrying about the snake.

well i would clean it at night but he is always out at night. lke right now he's sitting half way out of his warm hide. i'll try tomorrow when i get home. i already cleaned the poo that was out in the open a few minutes after i noticed it a few days ago.

lol when i bought that plant and put it in my tank, my mom looked at my tank and said "are you growing marajuana in there?" lol i had to explain to her that it was fakeand it stuck on the glass lol
