Last night i had my second successful feed, but not without Nesta's bizarre antics! Right before she fed she looked right at me and my two friends and gaped her mouth for maybe 3 seconds. Then she ate, took about 15 mins to swallow, and then gaped again about 3 times. Hasn't done it before or after. Any ideas why she would do this? THANKS!

re-aligning her jaw?

I thought it may have somethin to do with stretching/fixing her jaw after the feed. So is she preparing herself by gaping and stretching before?

they will usually re-align their jaws after swallowing or after a bad strike and miss. it's also possible she was just yawning.

Whatever it was, it was freakin awesome. Felt like she was givin me and my friends a show, a before and after fang shot.

Sounds like it is just re-aligning its jaws or just yawing. Every snake does it.

Allot of snakes drop their jaw in anticipation of food, enjoy it its really cool.
Take a picture next time:P
It could also be yawning or realigning

As a professional photographer, I thank you for making that decision. For what it's worth, you can get an ok digital camera at wal mart for under $30.
