I found this ad on craigslist while searching for someone who isn't overpricing aquariums and I found this

I am trying to figure out what in the heck that cage thing could be used for or what it is supposed to be if not a cage. Apparently it is really heavy...

I would build a top cover and keep a snake in it without hesitation.

Big and heavy usually translates into strong and sturdy.

How hard would it be to build a top? Also what snake could fit inside there its entire life? I don't have measurements but you can generally get a guess on its size. Also one last question for ya...how would you heat it effectively? I would assume UTH.

Seriously contemplating buying it before this weekend when I go to a reptile expo.

If you look to the immediate right hand side there is a bud light package, looks like a 24 pack case.

Diagonally there is the end of a sofa, so I would guesstimate about 2x2 or 24 inches square or above.

It could house a hognose, garter snake, milk snake or other small colubrid very comfortably.

Making a cover out of plywood is a breeze, and a bit cheaper than buying big screen tops.

With a small colubrid, a basking spot would be really all you need for heat.

Yeah I see what you mean LOL Didn't think to look at the stuff in the background! Oh man it would be AWESOME to get another hoggie! Since I have extra supplies for them already. Oh man oh man! I hope I can get this thing and figure out a top.

How exactly would I go about making sure my snake can breath though? With a plywood top and all it would seem difficult. That and securing it to the rest of the "tank". It is probably metal...

Cut out an opening and put in a screen, OR drill holes or install a floor register cover with vents.

Get creative, a sheet of plywood is a construction material, the uses are almost endless.

you can attach the light directly to it... put a trap door on top with a latch, easy access for feeding.

Hrmmm I will have to get with my father in law if/once I get it. He is the construction wiz. Heck if I thought he could work with glass I would get him to just make one for me...but I don't mind buying one used.

i agree with wayne - appears to be about 2' x 2'. plenty big enough for a female hog. or you can put a divider in it and get 2 male hogs!!!! either way, paint over the ugly green. since it's heavy, i'm guessing the frame is made out of metal.
