Would have kicked myself in the butt if I missed this one. Bored so i took a pic. What's the current standing on constricting bands? Still a no no or did that change, yet again?

If you got bitten by a venomous snake in the past they would put a tourniquet on the area to stop the spread of venom - it has been suggested that this can cause MORE longterm problems than trating the whole body with anti venin.
I dont know what the answer is tho ;)

from what i have heard, the current procedure is no tourniquet, no cutting, no sucking. just get to a hospital.

I'm pretty sure you don't want to tourniquet as it concentrates the venom in a smaller area of the body, leading to more extreme damage in that area.
No cutting, sucking, etc. etc. Just get to the hospital and get antivenin

I hope it stays that way. I remember the old days with the "snake bite" kit too. So many people do the wrong thing now because of it.
For some good news. SSVM protocol would allow paramedics help administer antivenin from the owner, On the search for cheap antivenin again...

i heard you try your best to keep your heart rate down while you move around, so to not get your blood moving so fast as well.

100% don't even walk. Sit still relax and wait to be carried out. Assuming you were smart and had a second person with you while handling hots. Get your heart rate up and you'll spread it alot faster.

'ok, you've just been bitten by an exotic venomous snake. you may die. if you live, your hospital bill might be around $250,000 and you may have some permanent deformities. but keep your heart rate down or you will die faster.' yeah, easier said than done.

True lol.
My hots are native, if I ever managed to get bit, there's a chance I could get away with a story of raking the yard and getting bit or something, and have inusrance cover it.
Maybe some lessons from this guy in staying calm XD

Ahh. If and when I have kids hots will be a thing of the past.
Sickvenom just curious why of all of them would you pick a coral snake? Just because the same colors of a milk snake were in a different order lol? I'd like a sunset monocled out of all I think. I'm facinated with they're behavior...
They stopped making anti for corals too...

the arizona coral snake has solid bands with no flecking. looks very different from a milk snake.

These are three examples of what happens when you're too stupid to handle venomous snakes, which 99.999% of people are. I would never go near one.

that's the main problem right there - you should never HANDLE a hot.

Even if you don't handle them, the possibility to get bitten exists. Look at the 'expert' milking the snake who gets nailed?
Clearly he's not an expert, because you don't encourage a front fanged snake to extend its fangs unless it's over the container and it can't bring those fangs down... but there's a moron born every day.
The guy who puts his cobra in the container backwards and clearly only has snakes that are dangerous because 'it's cool'...... get some! Punk.

I believe "milking" would be considered handling.
But yeah some really "special" people out there.
