Just wanted to know what age and weight my female ball python should be before I breed her, is 1300 grams about right? I don't plan on breeding her this year but I wanted to know how close she is to breeding size. I weighed her the other day at work and she came up to 1.08 pounds, does anybody know how much that is in grams and can tell me how to figure it out? Also shes about a year and 3 months old.

Thx, Kyle Walkinshaw~

I always get myself all messed up when I try to figure these things out *grin*... but... 1Kg (1000g) = 2.2lbs ... that part I'm sure of.

The minimum breeding weight for a female is standardly accepted as 1400g... 1300 would probably be ok too though I would think, as long as she's in good shape :)

You'd be 490 grams on the nose :)

According to the Sutherlands a snake that is between 43" and 45" should weigh between 1500-1600g. A snake that is 60" would need to weigh between 3100 and 3400g. (Seward, p.67 ball python breeding feild book, 2001)
Cheers,
Trevor
