What is the procedure? I know you need to leave some of the fecal material for the young, but do you save some in a container and pour it back in, or do you not completely remove everything.

Thanks!

I only change the cardboard - havent "cleaned" the whole enclosure (apart from the bit where i put the fruit - i wipe that bit down each time fresh fruit gets put in)

I've never kept anything with the Dubias.
Just did a complete emptying.

I put the fruit on a plate, then remove the plate within 24 hours, clean and replace.

It was my understanding, that the young feed of the fecal matter of the adults. Anyone else know of this?

I fixed your post Greg, the way you worded that last question it asked if YOU ate the feces.

You are correct, the babies eat the adults poo when they are young.

and they are for lizard food, I enjoy my roach colony, but their main purpose is to feed my lizards.

all I need is one banana a week, so yeah, they are super cheap food.

Chomper loves the big adults. My Leopard Gecko eats the smaller juveniles.

Don't even count them.. Right now, I had to back off on the roaches with Chomper, because one of the egg cartons got moldy underneath with black mold, and a huge chunk of the colony died off.

Thanks Wayne, I had a good laugh at myself over that. What is YOUR procedure when you clean your roach enclosure?

I started over with a new tote (they are cheap) and prepared it, then just moved all the roaches and some poop from the old to the new, then I dumped out the old one in my compost pile.

Now I use the old one to shovel my rat cages into when I clean them.

We ahve two small lizards, we were spending about $30 a week on crickets/locusts etc - now we feed off the roaches and spend maybe $10 a month on "extras" to give the lizards variety. As wayne said feeding the roaches is pretty much free - peelings that would be put in the bin - roaches eat - fruit on the "turn" that would go in the bin - roaches eat - its the circle of life Simba!! :)

they're not aquariums mate

viv's (vivariums) come in flat packs and you build them yourself

the wood is melanine and they have sliding glass doors heres a picture of some of my viv's there's three 2x2x2ft,three 4x2x2ft and one 3x2x2ft viv's in this picture and a faunarium tub next to my kids pictures

the semi circled thing you see on my wall at the middle top of the picture is a smoke alarm imo a must for everyone keeping a lot of electrics running on their tanks...!!

cheers shaun
