keep him moist and keep misting with a spray bottle. He'll be very dehydrated after shedding so make sure he knows where water is and its fresh.

Hydro shed on 420. That's interesting. :).

You don't often get the opportunity to actually watch them shed. Congrats and enjoy!

Had 7 snakes for a year and so far only seen one shed "live" - once he has finished check the shed skin for eye caps and tail tips - as long as these are on the shed then GOOD JOB!!

ok so he has shed both his eye caps, he has a piece stuck to his nose area, and has like the rest of his body to shed. think hes taking a break, some one said i should put him in a tank with warm water and let him soak for 15 mins then i should try to rub off his skin with a soft rag. should i try this?

Don't mess with him yet!! my suggestion would be spray the viv down with a spray bottle A LOT right now and let him try to finish. healthy snakes should shed in 1 piece without any aid except for extra humidity.

haha i looked down and HAD to take a screen shot.

indeed, me and my whole family sat there and watched him, he did ok with his head, he used the rubber linning of the tank to get that off, then he tried using the stick in his cage to get some more off. then he rested. then after some time he got smart and used the driftwood to peel the rest. now he is sun bathing. well uv light. or should i turn that off since his skin is so tender?

no need for the uv light, but you could leave it on:) I would just listen to others that have posted n just let him rest

You can leave the light on, just don't handle him for a few days.

not going to handle him at all. im just worried that i need to keep the light on, its pretty cold here in michigan, usa drops to 40 and below sometimes during day, and below 30's at night, so i try to keep him warm

The snake can't use UV light and UV light hasn't got any known effects on it neither does just plain normal light. The skin isn't tender, it's just soft for the first couple of house because of the oil the snake has to secrete from it's skin to detatch the old skin from the new one underneath. Just make sure it knows where it's water is and keep the aquarium unusually humid for a day with a spray bottle if you can. The shed looks good. Kingsnakes should always shed in one long piece. Sometimes a bit breaks but it's always one piece. Or two. Looks good.
