I was just wondering if anyone has done this for there reptiles. I have watched a snakebytes video about one of brians tricks to fix RI's but the chemical he uses is hard to get in the US. I recently went to the vet (2nd visit) for my Albino Kenyan Sand Boa and was recommended to give it albuterol mixed with saline twice daily in conjunction with the butril (sp) I have already been administering daily for a frustrating RI.

It does seem to affect the snake in that before the treatment it holds its head up to breath easier and during the treatment it lowers its head. I was concerned with the atomized moisture from the saline affecting the snake adversely because it is a desert species but I am told its good to give it "some" moisture to free debris in the lungs.

Those are human asthma medications I can't believe they use them in snakes.
Sorry I can't help I just wanted to comment on that. I hope your snake gets better. They're nice little guys. I find it odd that they'd suggest any kind of moisture for any desert animal to breathe too.

Whats funny is My fiancée and I talked about this before we brought him into the vet and I assumed they would give me a more pneumonia related medication rather than albuterol for nebs and butril (sp) for oral ingestion. He spit out a lot of clear fluid the other day which prompted the return visit to the vet. I think we are about even for the cost of the snake vs. vet visits lol :P

you must have the memory of an elephant rob

i used a product called F10

i dilluted it at 250:1

the easiest way to mix the correct dose is to get a 2 litre plastic coke bottle rinse it clean then put 8ml of F10 into the bottle and fill the remainder with clean water.always give the bottle a shake before use and draw the mixture up with a syringe minus the needle and fill the nebuliser chamber with it.

i had some good results nebulising 15 minutes morning 15 minutes night

heres a link to the exact nebuliser i bought
Omron Compressor Inhaler CompAir NE-C28-E (http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&xhr=t&q=omron+nebuliser&cp=7&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=1290316942708923632&sa=X&ei=BwusTfMDjZeFB_u77coJ&sqi=2&ved=0CE0Q8wIwAg)

i remember mykee saying its hard to get hold of F10 where he is but you may have more luck in tracking it down (i get mine from the local vet)

feel free to pm me if you have any questions mate

cheers shaun

The nebs with albuterol seem to be helping, we have been using my fiancees nebulizer and a modified salad contailer to keep the little bugger in the meds. f10 seems very hard to get in the US, it still must be a intercontinental product still and spendy too.

I also hear that F10 is the be all and end all as a sanitizing product.
F10 however, is next to impossible to get in North America.
If it lives up to it's hype, I would pay handsomly for a bottle. 250:1 means a small bottle will last years and years...
I'm going to look into getting some to North America if anyone is interested...

EDIT: That was easy, just a few more weeks:
