View Full Version : My rescued pair of albino burms
I rescued a pair of albino burms a couple months back. If you aren't familiar with my previous thread, this is what they both pretty much looked like when I got them:

Since I've acquired the pair, both have fully shed, knocked back a few rats, and look really great now!
This is what they look like now (male on the left, female on the right):

You did an excellent job getting them back in shape, and you come out on top for having two absolutely stunning snakes.

I was thinking about candycorn because of the orange, yellow, and white colouration - but knowing she'll grow up and lose the orange, I'm tending away from that. I will think of something soon. My room mate has been bugging me about the same thing. She keeps asking me when I'll name the girl! haha

My albino burm had skin damage almost identical to that, he has shed multiple times and it's not cleared up. Is there something special you did for it?

Hey Randy, I didn't do anything special other than provide an appropriate environment for him to recover. The damage on my burms' skin was most likely caused by mites and, I would assume, were superficial. If your burm's skin is persistently mottled, you might want to consider taking him to a vet to make sure he doesn't have some form of scale rot!

It happened while on christmas vacation. The bugger escaped his cage and found his way into the savana monitors cage and tried to eat him. To his and our suprise. The monitor bite the hell out of him, fended him off and fled to the closet. They aren't that bad just curious if there's anything I could do to help out.

How did the snake get out of his own cage and into another? Both enclosures would need to have significant defects unless it was human error

im guessing the monitor has an open top enclosure?

I never liked those much, tried them for a while but in the winter our humidity drops like crazy and its a pain to regulate the humidity in these enclosures.
When i visited friends out of the Country i saw some pretty great looking open top enclosures though.

Good call Jr, you are right, Open top enclosure. It's my girlfriends sav. I know nothing about them. No idea if they require humidity or not. I'd get bitched at if I tried to modifiy it. But my albino burn had a sliding screen top (he's still small) and he managed to slide it enough to get out and slithered over to what he thought was an easy meal. Lol suprised him he got his a** kicked.
Randy, it sounds like the bites to your burm is more severe than simple superficial damage. The monitor likely punctured your burm's scales in several places an are likely scarred in those places now. You will have to wait a while for the scarring to go away. It should lessen with each shed but it will take a while.
Try to keep his enclosure more secure!! Snakes are excellent escape artists.

Yea they are, I heard rattling in Luke cage last night went to inspect the bugger was trying to get out... I dont have the clips for his lid I am planning on moving him to a bigger enclosure soon (a rubbermaid) so I simply weigh down his lid with probably a good 20-25 pounds of stuff on top

Lots of the escape stories i have read start with "i never thought he would lift that much weight but....". ;)
