Yeah, We are still waiting on them. Darn check has been in the mail for over a week now :P but its better this way cuz now we have a home ready for them and not the baby corn tubs we have waiting for our eggs. IMO for $330 with a thermo I don't ever intend on making one, for the price this thing was.

Any idea what materials would be used to build one for retics/burms? 2-3 high 2 wide.

This thing is plastic with heat bent edges, very cool. Check out Rack systems for keeping and breeding large reptiles (http://www.reptilebasics.com/for-larger-snakes) I think thats there biggest racks. Whats awsome is they put the heat tape in it for you, either back or belly and it looks very pro.

Sweetness! Ill be able to use that as a baby for the first little while, Still gona need to invest in a large 8X4X4 later on, but that should work for my retic as a baby, and my smaller snakes once he outgrows it.
Not sure how long he will fit in there. probably not more then a few months.

Yeah IMO its a really good price for what you get. I mean, once you buy the tools and mats and then factor in time to make one it wouldn't be as nice as one of these, You'd prolly spend 1/2 or 2/3 but the time and labor is what turns me off to making my own.

God I am so torn...I mean I like the idea of having a few nice aquariums for my reptiles (got 2 now want to get more of course) but everyone seems to have the plastic bins. I know I could get more snakes if I did the bin idea but I don't like the idea of "storing" them in the same way I do with my misc. paperwork.
Does that seem silly?

Think of it as consolidating space and electric cords. Snakes arn't paperwork, they are our hobby.

That is true, but I wish there was another way to display our hobby rather than using a drawer.

Silly?? Not at all, NennaMarket! I think I am with you in terms of the actual look of the aquariums versus the plastic racks! I guess if I was planning to host multiple reptiles in my home, I'd go with the racks, but with only one or a few I'd still go with the aquariums. As far as that goes, Shmoges, I like what you've set up for the babies you are getting. Hope they come thru for you soon!! In the meantime, I would keep the aquariums for the time being in case you decide to 'rescue' something that loves to climb and show itself.

Personally i like the idea of each snake having the biggest tank, sensibly, for the snake, one of thereasons we arent shopping at the moment is thet we have no more space for large vivs. Dont forget nenna if you have wooden or plastic vivs you can stack them so you get the look pllus the space!!

Thanks! So you say mate in Scotland too eh? I thought that was a Aussie thing? I really appreciate all the feed back on this investment. I had my doubts but one in the hand is worth two in the bush ie once you see it in person you know its the right thing to do.

I do have a dad-in-law that loves to build custom stuff for us. If I ever did get in the need/market/ability to house many many snakes at a time I would easily have someone that can and would build a custom system for us. Right now he is working on a custom table so we can hold a 40 gallon long aquarium for a couple of leopard geckos that I will eventually be getting.
As least then with a custom built wooden one it wouldn't look so much like storage containers. Though I still have NO idea how you heat such things when tropical snakes need a certain humidity and heat compared to others. There is also the question on finding enough room for hides, water, ect. ect.

See!!! individualized micro environments with electronically controlled temperatures are the bomb.
