Man did we have a scare last night. We went to give our two sick KSB boys there daily meds and I sifted through the crushed walnut and found the larger anery. Then I tried to find the littlest snake we have the albino named AL lol and we couldn't find him!! took out the tank decor and couldn't find him..... Now we are like WTH and we start thinking, ok he got out.
Oh no! He either went down one of the two sinks in the bathroom where we keep them ( of course the faucets are open) or he fell to the floor and went into a heating vent. Or really squirmed and went into the other snake room or out into another room. So we demolish everything looking for him and after a couple hours of that it was just starting to sink in that we lost him!! $125 for the snake $65 for vet visit and whatever costs not to mention he is cute as hell. :P
Then Jackie picks up this roman pillar looking tank decor that I flipped upside down first thing and said I bet he crawled up into it and sure as shiza there he is grunting his way out of a tiney hole in it!!!! So we punished him with icky meds and closed the faucets and removed "potential problem decor".

To avoid these problems make your reptile rooms escape proof, that way if they get out they cant get far.
Now that I've said that, I've had 3 snakes get loose, one was lost for 9 months, we found it when we blew new insulation into our attic, it had lost some weight, but looked fine(ball python) we also lost 2 other ball pythons, one squirmed out of his temporary enclosure that we put him in for feedings and found his way to the front yard (we leave our doors open in the summer sometimes to air out the house) and the other got loose and hid in the couch for a while.
Just look around, make sure he isn't still in the house, they can hide in the weirdest places. If you lost him, hope he comes back and don't worry about it, KSB's wont be killing any neighbours.

One day when we move and I can build a propper snake room yes we will make an "escape proof" place for our hobby :D

You can probably make your current spece rep-proof
add some type of foam under the door if there is a gap, other then that, what ways are there to get out? heat vents which are easy to block off, just use fine chicken wire or mesh? not sure what other ways to escape there are.

Yeah if we remember to close the tub and sink faucets all we have to really do is mesh the vents and seal the doors.
Back to the searching I forgot to mention I took apart the sink plumbing to see if he was in there.... wet icky mess :P

You could probably work that into your routine and in a few weeks you wont even notice the change.
you shold get a sink table/cutting board. Its just a cutting board type thing that fits right over the sink opening makes it so nothing can get in there ;) I have one to keep my troublesome twins from dropping toy cars in the disposal lol
Ive had a few escapies!! I had one that was lost for 3 months I flipped the couch up on its end because I was gonna throw it out, as I was cleaning up (again) toy cars that were lost under it, plop he falls out the couch!!! I also had a big 7 fter who'd escaped on several occassions from a locked cage..hard to lose a 7 fter though lmao. She always went to the toilet (behind it not in it) or my computer desk so either way I got a scare bright an early when I feel something at my feet lol

Nice, odd he would go for the toilet though, those are chilly pieces of ceramic.

so glad you found him!!
When i got my first snake he was 6 years old and his home has sliding glass doors along the front. I didn't have a lock because the previous owner didn't have lock and i said "he doesn't have hands, he can't slide open glass". yes he can. 3am mom is yelling for me and i'm thinking "am i late for school? it's so dark out!" then i get downstairs..
she heard the "cat" knocking stuff over, the crystal vase from ontop of the piano, a lamp, a few plants... then she went to pick up the belt on the floor. it moved. it was wolfus. soo we caught him and made sure he was ok and then put him back and taped everything shut. now we have a lock.
