Had to move this girl off road to safety today. (I assume it was a girl, her belly was quite large and she was moving sloooow)

Oh goodness get that girl to a pond! She is probably looking for a wet safe place to lay her eggs/tadpoles.
Wonderful find. If it were me I would have taken her home and given a safe place for her to release her babies/eggs.

Looks like a big one I saved out of the pool last summer lol. Put her down in the tall grass and it just sat there and looked at me lol.

I have wondered this in the past but never looked it up, how hard is it to "incubate" from eggs from the time they are layed in the water to tadpoles? I'm assuming that keeping the water clean would be hard?

Sounds it, but you never know... Frogs lay and thrive in some of the nastiest places. Clean might not be the word to use lol.

it needs to be filtered in some way, or they run out of oxygen, no?

For science class in middle school we "hatched" frog eggs. Its really easy. Mason jar full of unfiltered water (I got ditch water from my house) and keep the water luke warm. Once the babies hatch then you have to be careful cause they need moving water to breathe...though sorta like Betta fish tadpoles can go to the surface and "gulp" air. Just not good for them. As far as feeding tadpoles I got some of that dried shrimp fish food...or whatever it is. In the wild tadpoles eat stuff like dragonfly larvae.

I was always the kid that brought tadpoles to class :P
We had little black ones and the big brown ones. we used to boil lettuce and then let it cool and they'd eat that. it was so cool to watch them all stick to it!
Now i want tadpoles again!
