You turned on the heat lamp to raise the temps? What temps was it before? and what temp did you raise it to? The majority of snakes do best with constant temperatures, my GTP has the same temp 24/7.
Too much heat can be as bad if not worse than not enough.

I personally wouldnt want my GTP enclosure dropping down that far overnight, have you thought of Ceramic Heat Emitter? They can be run 24/7 on a thermostat that keeps the temps within tenths of a degree,

well i have thought of that and i actually have it...but when i came home today i found my GTP sleeping on the floor bedding..isnt that mean too hot? the intank temp is only 85 in the middle area..i have a 37G tank. Dimension is 31L x 12w x 22h..but its weird should he go the the cooler side instead of going all the way down to bottom hiding?? so i turned off the heat and now temp is 78 in middle tank area...

Reptiles NEED constant temperature. All this turning heat on and off isnt going to help your snake, if he wants to sleep on the floor why shouldnt he??? Get the temp at 88f as a hot spot and leave the thing alone to settle in.
Pretty much every post you have made is you fiddling with your snakes husbandry, GTP's are fairly fragile snakes to own, once the cage is setup and the snake is in there except for water changes and feeding they shold be left alone. We have had ours for a year now and he has been handled and/or disturbed TWICE.
If you keep playin with his enviromment and temperatures you WILL end up with a sick snake.
I apologise in advance for any offence you take from this post but you ahve asked for lots of advice and i, and others, have posted tens if not hundreds of time with helpful advice, it seems that you aren't listening and/or prepared to take this advice.

oh no no no ! i appreiciated your advice as well as everybodys! i m still learning and if i did make u feel like i m fiddling my snakes husbandary then i m sorry! but text has always been lack of emotions ...i have not handled him for quit a long time now .i dont even put my hand in there and mess with his surroundings. i m just letting you guys know what is going on and how the temp is . isnt it make sense? if temps too low at night then i turn on infared heat lamp to raise it up. as well as in day time if too hot i just shut it off and wait till temps get normal and turn it on again..i m not going to cook my snake lol:yes:.and i dont feel offenced at all , i appreciated your advice. all u were trying to tell me is leave him alone...which i am. i m here to learn if i was an expert already i woundlt even post anything or found this forum. and if i did make u angry cause of the misunderstanding of me messing with my snake all the time..i apolozige... but i m still appreciated everybodys feedbacks and concerns! thanks

I think a Thermostat would really help you I just ordered one it came to around 40 dollars and I cant wait until it is here
You basically plug your heating device into the thermostat plug in the thermostat then set the temps and it will moderate the temps for you so you dont have to "fiddle"with anything
Hope this helps :D

Its has a temperature probe on it that you put in the tank which will gauge the temps and I believe the model i mentioned have two plugs so you can plug in two heating devices at a max of 110 watts i believe i would have to check the owners manual but yea from what I hear its that simple

Absolutely np and as others have mentioned feel free to ask questions here the information you will get is very informative and sometimes the reply may seem short but that is most of the time because they must have been asked the same questions over and over for years... I know I would get annoyed :D

What you have to think of is this (if you are manually switching lights on and off)
The tank is a little cold so you switch the light on, you then go out and get caught somewhere, i dont know say the weather turns bad and you cant get home, your snake is now in an enclosure with an uncontrolled heat source that WILL cook the snake if left long enough.
With a thermostat i would rely totally on the temperature scale printed on the dial as there are too many variables involved but put the probe where you want the hottest spot in the tank. Set the thermostat to the correct temperature and a light should come on on the thermostat to show that it is heating the tank, when the light either goees out or starts flashing (depending on the stat) it means it has reached the temperature that it is set at - now use a temp probe or guage to check the temp at the hot spot, if you are lucky it will be as you set it but with all mine they have needed a slight adjustment of the setting either up or down. Check the temps again over the next couple of days to ensure stability.
Once oyu are happy that the stat is keeping the temp right you can just check the temps on a regular basis to ensure the stat hasnt been knocked or changed in some way and you can then relax and know that the snake is in a well controlled environment.

I use Habistat Pulse Proportional Thermostats with all my Ceramic bulbs (you need a pulse stat with Ceramics to be most efficient)

Cant remember exact pricing but i believe the stat plus bulb cost around £100 - tho you can but secondhand stuff cheaper (not the bulb tho - would always go with a new bulb)
