one is a yellow belly the other one i think is a teaxes coutor. i...can anyone maybe identifiy them any better...i know the yellow belly is a yellow belly...but the greenish one i dont know....the yellow belly's name is turdy...lol and the other one is speedy hehe
Man so sorry - I have a hard time understanding you .. Try to give out as much information as you can .. especially the animals and conditons if u required help ..
Often courtshipp includes the males facing the female and tickling his mates face with him long fingernals .. Hence the real males tend to have longer finger nails .. if this is what is happpening then there might be some sign of love in the air!
Take care

ok but i think they are still too young they are only about a year old and only about 4-5 inchs long so ...im not sure but when one turle goes on certain part of the cage the other one may not acepet that she it ethier bites of does the fin waves....
Aren't to young to display breeding bahviours at a year old. They may or may not breed but they can always practice.
But hoenstly if I was you and I had possibly two turtles being territorial (which yours sound like they are) I would get the seperate tanks. Or build a large outdoor pond if you can so both turtles can have their own area.

Justin,
The others aree correct. They are not fighting, but just 'playing around.' Many aquatic turtles (slider & cooters included) will bring their front paws to the side of the head and wave/flicker them very quickly. This is usually done my males, but females do it as well. Generally, the males will swim around the female and wave his paws for several days or weeks until the female accepts him.
You're right, your turts are too young to mate, but they are just testing the water. Some will start waving their paws way before they are ready for mating. They also wave it to the same sex, three-way or more, wave to themselves and for no apparent reason.
It's all quite normal. When they chase each other from one end of the tank to the other and bite each other, that is what they do when they fight.
Cheers,
JJ
P.S. I love to watch them wave their front paws at each other.
