Well, it has been a while since i reared my ugly head here, but i come bearing good tidings and seeking the advice of those more experienced than me, the good news, is that i have fallen victim to an addiction to carpet pythons in all forms, and am now the proud owner of not only my original female jcp, but also a coastal jag male (8 months) a irian jaya male (sub adult age unknown, and a female irian jaya hatchling (approx 3 months)

now for the sad news, my irian jayas where both purchased from a breeder who was downsizing, and unfortunately it has come to my attention that both have imprinted on mice, and the sub adult is anemic, and this is where i need help

in lesser sad news my jag is not in the pics that follow because he is a jackass and he bit me while i tried to take his pic

Moby, is the nicest carpet ive ever had the joy of working with, he is neither head nor tail shy, he has yet to strike at anyone, he cruises around like he owns the world, and always stops and looks at you as if to say hello

im worried about him, im wondering is it possible for an irian jaya to reach adulthood and be healthy when he staunchly refuses all rodents but mice?

Congrats on the new additions. I believe we told you carpets were additive.
Now for your problem. Stop feeding him for about a month. Then when you do only offer a rat of equal size of the mice he's been eating. You could even brain it to help get a feeding response. If he don't eat wait another two week and try again. just keep doing it until he eats for you. When he gets hungry enough he'll eat a rat. Just give it time.

will do, im trying now to give him a mouse then a similar sized rat then another mouse, if he eats the rat, im gonna slowly start subbing small rats for mice, then decrease the amount of rats and slowly increase size, hopefully ill get him to stop being so darn picky

if he doesnt take the rat, ill give it to my jungle, (shes a garbage disposal if there ever was one) and take your advice, someone also suggested i get a fecal done for the anemia to see if it may be parasite related, wich i will do as soon as he poops again

gotta get some tasty fresh for mr vetrinarian
