Hello,

Since a few days ago i'm kinda obsessed by tiger pythons...
But are there any kind of species in the Tiger python family? (or is there actualy a family) or is tiger python just a name for a snake?
If there are others, could some1 tell me the names? or send me link?
And if some1 here has a tiger python pleaseeeeeee send me some pictures :freakedout:

Allready thanks :)

Regards,

Rolf

Tiger are Retics. Name so because of their striping. There are also Tiger Coastal Carpet pythons. I am pretty sure your talk about Reticulated Pythons. Jenn 06 on here as one and i believe one or two other people do.

The second Retic in these thread is a Super Retic.

Here is my tiger retic. I am assuming this is what you are talking about. This is an older picture so she is bigger now but you get the idea.

aaah on a dutch forum i asked aswell, and they said it was Python molurus and i meant that 1 , but now i see there are sub-species in that :)
And in the sub species i think i meant the Python molurus bivittatus :)
Gorgeous snake :), but i think i'm a bit to young to have 1 :)
And my parents will never allow me too anyway :)

A tiger is a morph in the retic, they have TONS of morphs like tiger, super tiger, albinos, snow, golden child and so much more. mainland retics can get BIG but there are dwarf and super dwarf retics that dont get so big.

this is a baby tiger...he passed away not to long ago :(

Well, that can't be right. Python molurus bivittatus is the Latin name for the Burmese python, and the Python molurus species includes Burmese, Indian, and Rock pythons. To the best of my knowledge there are no tiger morphs of any of those subspecies.

The reticulated python is Python reticulatus, and there is a tiger morph of that, as others have pointed out on here.

Well here in the netherlands, we call Python Molurus tiger pythons, so it's not a morph, but actually a snake, so it could be there is just a problem with the language :P
Dutch language sucks anyway :P

Python Molurus is the indian rock python and Python Molurus bivittatus is the burmese python so sounds like the common name that you use "tiger python" is just a language difference and when we hear the word tiger we assume the tiger reticulated python as we call the others rock pythons and burmese pythons and are unfamiliar with them being referred to as tiger pythons.

you may think now your parents wont let you have one, but one day they might. my dad took 7 years to let me get a snake (weird how i didnt have to convince my mother of it though). keep tryin and find a local expo and ask ur parents to take you there every month and maybe they will come around. and you may not want to start on a reticulated python without first doing a lot of research.

Not actually planning to get 1 :)
Just think they look awesome.
Maybe it's a snake for later, but really not before i'm over the 20 (that's how i think bout it)

Good choice, these snakes are not for the inexperienced. I was keeping snakes for about 18 years before I let myself get into giants. Now I have a bunch and I love them but you have to know what you are doing and be mature enough to handle it. Not to mention being financially ready because they are not cheap to house or feed. Continue asking questions here and learn as much as you can.

well i do agree they are pretty cool snakes. i just love how big they get its really neat to see something that big. mine is just a baby still though but i have seen full grown ones at expos. they are really laid back and chill if you train them right not to say they wont have there days but for the most part they are enjoyable.
