Good eve
Just thinking about something earlier, I frequently take Takamura, my bearded comrade for walks during the summer, down to the local park or just around the yard. He does so love to sit in the sun and look at things.
Im just curious if this will be a healthy activity for my future BPs to indulge in during the summer months, or if I should refrain from taking them out and about with me from time to time.

The short answer because I'm going to bed is no do not attempt this. Even with your dragon. Only your private property.

I trust your advice on this, but can anyone give me a why? Just curious as Iv been visiting the lake with my Dragon for some time now as it is a 3 minute walk from my house.

Pesticides could harm your animals. Common rule with all pets. It's especially bad if they should ingest anything that has come in contact with pesticides. There's also parasites to worry about.

As well as a-holes that may grab it, or injure it. Or just busybodies that report you for having an exotic out in a public place (depending on the laws where you are)

Is illegal to use pesticides on grass in Canada for a long time now :) but I can see this being a big issue other places.
I suppose that would mean there are likely more Parasites then, Hmm Guess Takamura doesn't get to scope out the chicks at the beach anymore, poor guy.
@Rob - Ah yes, the rest of the human race, I lost faith in them long ago, figures they would be interested in screwing me whilst minding my own business. Im not sure on the laws here tho, thats a good one to look up :)

All the more reason why I could never move ;)
I would be devastated if I could not take my animals outside.
Chomper would probably not be as healthy if he didn't get the level of exercise he gets either.
Oh and on that note, My neighbours have complained to the code enforcement officer before about us having our exotics outside. Luckily, there is no law against taking my pets outside on my own property.

I allways tought that taking out your snakes in your on yard or something was very bad for your snake.
Because of the parasites and stuff?
But that's actually not really true?
Maybe have something new to do in the summer ;o

I take my brearded dragon out for walks on my shoulder all during the spring/summer months. He is on my shoulder/arm mind you, and I don't allow anyone to touch him...but I do take him out and about.

This summer coming is the third summer that pesticides have been banned.

Ball Pythons are nocturnal, they dislike sunlight.

I wish they would ban them in New York state, Our native green snakes are insectivores and have become all but impossible to find anymore.
The poor snakes eat the poisoned bugs and die.
Luckily where I live I own so much land and I border 200 acres of state forest, so it's safe here.

I just never take my snakes outside. My own yard or otherwise. Safe from all things. :D

I took our monitor outside last year to take pics and a bird flew over and he went MENTAL!! So i took him straight back inside and havent bothered again since.

Chomper would have tried to eat that bird. ;) The moral here is different animals will react differently than others.
I would never take one of my smaller snakes outside for anything other than naturalistic photos, they are far too quick and would easily get away.

Birds make Takamura nervous as well. Birds are the Mortal Enemy of the Glorious Beardie Legion.
I enjoy your Lizard Leash, as well as the lizard attached to it :D

I take mine outside for photo shots, but only in my yard. When i take them back in i lightly mist them and wipe them down. Just to play it safe.

if chomper somehow escaped and was seen walking down the street alone, most people would be terrified; i'd be stoked lol. i would look like you chasing the snake out of the puddle wayne lol.

I don't set my animals on the ground until I am so far back from the road it wouldn't matter.

i wasn't saying it's possible he would escape. i was saying if SOMEHOW you weren't home and he dug through your wall or something and got into the outside world, i would see him going down the road and be like "omg, awesome!!!" lol

Closest thing we ever see to a gang around here is a dozen kids drinking in the woods.
The local high school has graduating classes that average around 12 kids going on the senior trip. Not much chance of gangs here. The largest graduating class we have had that I can ever remember was under 30 kids total. and most of them were related to each other somehow.
