Hi guys,

I need some advice,

My juvi JCP is fine in his smaller terrarium for now, but I have been shopping around getting idea's and prices for his permanent adult enclosure.

Now I have been told by many that a 48"x24"x16" (16" tall) PVC would be great, and went into my local shop to get a price, and he told me that size wouldn't be suitable for a JCP as they are semi arboreal, so he instead recommended a 36"x24"x24" instead as it's obviously alot taller.

The guy sort of seemed like a total con who just wanted to sell me what he had in stock, so I wanted to get some thoughts from you guys on if that would indeed be a better choice.

Also if I do end up with a 36"x24"x24" how should I heat a PVC enclosure like that? it has no holes or mesh for a light, so maybe one of those Radiant Heat Panels secured to the ceiling?

Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Static, my JCP is now 26.5" long, so I don't need this next week, but I wanted to start building it piece by piece.

Thanks!

We have 24x24x36 for our jcp and to be fair he spends most of his time toward the top of the viv or climbing around his perches, i think height is more important than width. I have wooden vivs and use ceramic heat bulbs.

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the reply.

This link is the closest I could find to show you what I saw in person, looks exactly like this, save for the height is 24" not 17".

Plastic Reptile Cages, Tanks and Racks. Snake, arboreal, lizard and turtle light weight custom flexwatt heated enclosures. (http://www.boaphileplastics.com/343a.html)

That being said, how would you use a bulb in a setup like this? there is no hole or outlets inside.

How would I use a heat panel for that matter? lol

Do people generally cut their PVC cages to install heating?

Hey, if you have any sort of inclination towards handy-(wo)manly sort of things, you might just build your own enclosure. Max here has a thread where he's got the cage he made his adult JCP:

Check it out! He does a great job, and I know it's helped me get started figuring out how I want to build a cage for when I get one :). Probably a good bit cheaper than the PVC enclosures as well.

I have just finished one of two of my adult JCP enclosures... They are 80cm x 60cm x 90cm (31.5in x 24in x 36in).
