Like others, I'm posting so I can get full membership status to view pictures and whatnot. I suppose I should share a little about myself as well.
I wanted to be a herpitologist when I was around 12 years old. That faded as I grew and I now work as an engineer building roads. Growing up I didn't have the financial resources to purchase much of anything, but my brother and I caught fence lizards and great basin gopher snakes (locally called "blow snakes" in south eastern idaho). I graduated from school last spring and now have some finances to support a few herps. My wife and I purchased a bearded dragon and an irian jaya carpet python a week and a half ago. I don't think our collection will grow for some time but my long term goals include breading several different species, particularly green tree pythons. For now I just want to enjoy what I have and participate in learning more from the community here. Thanks.

I've uploaded a few photos to the gallery, but when I try to get the URL to them I can't. I followed the directions in the help forum and I when I right click I don't get a pop up menu with properties as an option. Nothing pops up. I guess you can check out my gallery to see pics of the newbies. Thanks for the welcomes.
Welcome fellow engineer (civil I take it?)! If you have a photobucket account, all you have to do is copy the image code and paste it into your post. Viola, instant picture!

Yeah I'm a Civil guy working in Arizona right now. I guess I'll have to get a photobucket account, but was hoping to use the gallery here. Oh well.

Imageshack is a great place to upload images and it is really easy to do. That is what I use.

Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to your pics when you get it figured out. I usually need the help of my 14 year old who has helped me with that stuff since he was seven and I still haven't figured it out on my own. As an engineer you should have better luck than I!!!

Here are some pics. Sorry for the delay. In response to Blind, our carpet, which we're calling Eerie (original I am not), isn't bitey at all. I might have had her spooked after having to dig her out of my couch (I swore I could still feel her on me but she snuck into the back of the couch). She didn't try biting or anything but she did **** back in what might have been preparation to strike. I held her at the shop I bought her from (Arizona Reptile Center) and she was very docile. It was when I held an adult at the same shop that I decided to buy her. She likes to explore when being held, but it doesn't seem like she's flighty; it's one of the things I like the most about the carpets.
I'm feeding her a hopper mouse once a week, but am thinking of switching to rat fuzzies. Anyone have some advice on feeding her? I'm worried she's not getting enough.
Our beardie, which we're calling Fyre, was the runt of three beardies at the same store in Phoenix. She has some red in her and cost a little bit more than a regular beardie ($15 or so). The others in her tank were obviously her siblings and more active than she was. She didn't eat much the first couple of days we had her (we're not sure if it's a her or a he really yet) but she's eating fairly well now and getting quite the belly on her.

Nice carpet - our JCP is eating a rat approx 2 times the width of his body every 14 days. He chomps it down and looks for more, i am pretty sure if i put a large rabbit in with him he would have a damn good go at eating it! :) ;)
