Bredli or centralian carpet pythons are pretty much like other carpet pythons as far as care and personality goes. They are usually pretty mellow, but like any species, there is individual variation. I keep a bunch of different localities of carpet pythons, and Bredli's are on my list once I get some more space. Shaunyboy has one I think- and there are a bunch of people on here who can help you.

I keep all my carpets in 4'x2' melamine cages with aspen bedding. 85-87F hot end, 80F cool end during day. I only do a night drop during the cooling for breeding season. I keep mine at about 40-50% humidity (what my house is) and I've never had one have any single issue shedding. Bredli's are pretty much kept the same way. They tend to be semi-arboreal, and will make use of perches and shelves as well as hide boxes.

They are a sub-type of carpet python. However, a lot of people just refer to them as Bredli, or centralian python.

I have a two year old female. Mellow as can be until she smell food. She my only snake that has never struck at me. Not even once. I say get one you can go wrong. Mine is super active. All my carpet are, but she's the most active by far. Man does she love to climb. About the only time she's on the floor of her cage is to eat and poop. Here's a pic of my Bredli.

i really regret selling mine rob as they are great snakes to keep i got them from premier morph's in devon mate

they have also re classified bredl as not being carpets.

bredl live in a remote part of australia and have been evolving on their own for a long time after dna testing they not long ago got re classified but i still think of them as carpets

i'm still trawling the internet looking for scientific papers, what i do know though is it was announced at an ASH meeting (an austrailian herp group)

rolph milkelson of denmark does a lot of work involving bredl's he has produced some stunning diamond bredl jaguars imo bredl genetics bring out the best in a crossing of carpet species

cheers shaun

Their own species just like M.viridis, M. carinata and M. imbricata. All that has happened is they moved them from being a sub-species of M. spilota. No difference really all Morelia none the less but taking them out of spilota makes them a stand alone species. And I agree they will always be a carpet lol.

i agree as well and thanks for explaining it mate

could you point me in the diection of any bredl studys or genetic tests that were done in the reclassification

from what i gather they are carpets but have been living so remotely that they have evolved different genetics from the rest of spilota

anything you can point me towards worth reading would be most appreciated

thanks in advance shaun

I owned one for a few months, but reluctantly sold him so I could acquire a Jamaican boa. Gorgeous snake, I'd love to get another one in the future.
