I've worked for years with snakes, and last year while living in Oregon I worked at a reptile house and fell in love w. the GTPs my boss put me in charge of...and decided to get one of my own.

He's a suspected aru/biak cross and has already bitten me, that little red mark on my wrist is all that he left.

Well you're just on top of things c: Already pics before you probably had time to read my comment~

At any rate, stunning GTP~ Love the yellow colored ones, but I suspect he'll be changing colors as he ages?

i think gtps have longer ones that atbs but isn't it gaboons that have the longest? i thought i was use to getting bit until a etb decided to taste my forearm. hopefully i'll get use to it again before this guy can do some real damage lol

Well I think, as far as pets common in the pet trade goes, GTP's have the longest teeth and a generally nasty attitude(biters), but can learn to tolerate handling decently if held regularly.

When Non-Venomous+Venomous snakes, comparing who's teeth is bigger, I have no idea, but with non-venomous(pet trade commoners), I believe it's GTP's.

my fingers are crossed that he'll warm up to me, it'll break my heart if he grows up and still doesn't want to be held. thanks for clearing up the teeth question, it's been a while since i've dealt w. snakes as pets issues haha.

beautiful gtp, is it a biak by any chance, i know the biak specifically has the 2nd longest teeth in the non venomous snake market but unsure of the 1st though

GTP is the first, as stated above. Not sure about longest teeth in the venomous area.

ah ok, the longest in the venomous area as far as im aware belongs to the egyptian (i think the egyptain hooded) cobra as they have teeth that measures between 1 1/2 - 2 inches long

Nice gtp!!! Always wanted one, just no room for one... as for the longest teeth of the venomous types, I'm almost %100 positive that its the gaboon viper, believe their fangs are 2"+

thanks, hank is really fun now that he's stopped biting (even his little teeth started to hurt)

he just ate his second meal w.o any problems at all, so excited!

Beautiful GTP!

As far as longest teeth goes, I was under the impression that ETBs had longer teeth than GTPs.

Really? I swore I'd heard from several breeders and owners that it was GTB... Wonder if anyone that's experienced in owning both for several years, or owning alot of both, could give us the average tooth span with GTP vs. ETB.

i've actually worked w. both (adults only) and any time a gtp got ahold of me it was always much worse than an etb. i've never been in a situation where i took a good look then compared teeth size though.

Thats absolutely right, Gaboons have the longest fangs, the record is 2.5 inches!!

Cobras do not have 2 inch fangs, they have very short fixed teeth, if they were 2 inches they would be stickin out the bottom of its mouth!!!

Hi btw!! lol

haha good to know, i always had a feeling that the gaboons i worked w. had some of the longest fangs i'd seen.

From everything i read while i was doing research ETBs have the longest teeth of any non-venomous snake. My little guy was born august 3 2010 and his teeth are already bigger or the same size as other snakes i've had at the 1 year to 1.5 year mark. I think it's mainly the canines that are the big difference.

at this rate we might never know haha! either way it's not fun to get bit by either...and you can't just move whatever got bit away bc damaging teeth and jaws happens D':

From what i understand, ETB's have the longest teeth on the non venemous side of things, closely followed by the green tree's.
i think its down to the fact they feed on birds, and need to get through the feathers, either way, i dont want to be picking their teeth out my finger!!!

Nice teeth huh?
And as for them having the longest teeth because they mostly eat birds, that seems to be false as well. Birds apparently are a small part of their diet. According to observations and necropsies done on numerous animals they mainly eat small arboreal mammals.
