As some of you know, I planned on picking up a juvenile JCP this weekend at a show, although things soon changed when I held this beautiful girl in my arms... There were only a few carpets at the show, only one jungle, priced at $600....
I fell in love with her as soon as she was in my arms! So sweet, even while being harassed and poked at by the hundreds of show go'ers. The owner didn't normally have Carpets, she got this one from a friend and was letting her go cheap as she was low on space. I got her for $120.

She's a 5 year old Diamond, right around 7' long (my best measurement anyways).

As I was preparing for a <3' jungle, my cage is severally under size! But she will only have to deal with it for a couple days, as I will be building her a custom one.
I picked her up a medium rat on the way home, planning to feed in a couple days, but when I got home put her in the cage, and took the rat out to put it in its cage, she lit up! I offered, and she took it, within 5 minutes of being home!
I plan on leaving her completely alone for the next week! Only reason I will touch her will be to move her to her new house.

That's a diamond? Looks like a scrubbie to me, or a jungle carpet.

At any rate, beautiful snake <3 Glad she got real excited and ate for ya! I'm sure she'll love life with you just as you will with her. :>

Thank you, I can't stop watching her!
And so I've heard, I'll try to resist haha.

I thought/think the same thing, although she assured me it's a diamond. I will try to do some investigating on the original owner, but in the mean time I'll enjoy my new girlfriend ;)
I plan on giving her everything she could ever need in her years to come, hopefully she will enjoy it as much as I do :)

Ahh.. Yeah, definitely should double check with the previous owner or someone that owns scrubs or diamond carpets. My only real concern is if she's a scrubbie, since you'd probably have to change the conditions to meet a scrub's husbandry. I personally don't know about it, all I know is she looks similar to an adult/juvenile scrubbie, to me, but if she is, in fact, a carpet then it doesn't really matter what morph, as long as everything's all good and she's happy. I always thought diamonds were more white/black/yellow color combos than brownish tones. Then again, I haven't studied carpets extensively.

Loving those post-feed shots <3 Snakes always look so lovely in red :> Definitely looks all happy and snug in her new home~

Thanks, I'm really starting to like the red light as well :)

I really hope she's not a scrub... definitely wasn't planning on a 15+ foot snake, and I wouldn't be able to house one properly.
I'll try and get in contact with the previous owner tomorrow.

Been looking through pictures on google... she definitely doesn't look like a Diamond, the pattern just doesn't fit. But she doesn't look that much like a scrub either, her eyes don't pop out as much, and she seems to have a more intense pattern. Actually, I think she has a Jungle like pattern, but she lacks the color of a jungle.
Maybe she's a Jungle x Diamond cross?
Opinions?
I feel a little dumb now for buying a snake that might possibly not be what I thought it was, although the seller seemed to know what she was talking about. Her booth was set up right next to woodcliff herps, a reputable breeder, he vouched for her as well... Any input would be greatly appreciated, hopefully I can get to the bottom of exactly what she is :)

Well I definitely agree her head doesn't look like a scrubs, more of the pattern than anything, and general color of her. Besides the shape, Scrubs seem to have more 'line' markings across their head than a thick pattern. Makes me wonder if there's a morph that shares color/pattern similarities with a scrub or if it's possible for a scrub to breed with a CP(kind of like woma/BP mixes). And I did mention possibly a Jungle CP of some kind, as well, but yeah, she really looks far from how a diamond normally looks.

Personally i would say she is a larger JCP, her scales/markings look identical to my guy (gonna post some pics in a separate thread in a second)

It's not a scrub. Not even close. It is a carpet python. I would make a suggestion that it's either a Coastal or Jungle.

Looks like a coastal to me. Not a Diamond, not a scrub. Nice looking snake though, congrats! Can't wait to see pics of her in her new home.

Good! It would be interesting to find out jungle or coastal though.

Great link, thank you.
From what I can divulge from just looking at pictures, she looks very "coastalish", although her colors are closer to the caramel coastal type. Her pattern is definitely on the jungle side of coastals, if that makes any sense. Possibly a coastal x jungle?

Anybody else have nay opinions?

As Aaron said, she's definitely not a scrub python- they have distinct head shapes and are usually golden in color and aggressive. That is most likely a mutt carpet- jungle, or coastal or some mix of them. It's definitely not a diamond at all. I wouldn't think there's even any diamond blood in it, but a low % of diamond, such as if it was a 75% jungle/25% diamond, would not look much like a diamond. At any rate, for $120, you definitely didn't pay too much. So enjoy your new carpet buddy- no matter how colorful or dull looking, they are awesome snakes with tons of personality. She looks a lot like my big mutt, Voodoo. He's a sweet big boy and one of my favorites. :)

Really nice Coastal. I am with Willow it has no Diamond, but still a sweet looking snake. If it was a Diamond or had Diamond in it you would have been paying a lot more. Real Diamond start out at $700.00 on up. It sucks when people are misleading just to get a sale.

Spot on mate, definitely not a jungle or diamond... nice coastal though.

Thanks everyone!
As long as she's a carpet I'm not concerned, if I HAD to have a colorful snake, I would have waited, I just couldn't put her down after holding her for an hour!

Nah, it's not too bad, it just took me off guard that her poop was as large as my parents Australian Shepard haha.
I don't even want to think about what comes out of a 120lb 16 footer!

...and it's also why I rehomed that snake. I was caring for it for a friend, who turned out not to be able to take it back. Big Boy was too much for me to handle on my own, so he was turned over to a breeder I know who has years of experience with the giants. He is doing really well.

I would say that it is a coastal for sure, but there could be some influence of other carpets in her. I never rule it out as over there the hybrid game has been going for a while and there would definetely be some hybrid offspring sold as pure when they arent at all.
